DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Fairlawn and Hudson Schools of Music will host their second annual Rock for a Good Cause March 22 to benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank’s Harvest for Hunger campaign. The goal for the 2014 Rock for a Good Cause concert is $1,000, enough for the Foodbank to provide 4,000 meals locally. Seven student bands will perform on stage at Musica to raise awareness of hunger issues in the community. To participate in Rock for a Good Cause, students were asked to research and report on hunger in Northeast Ohio and the work of the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. The bands scheduled to perform are: Six Gun Salvo, 4 to 4:30 p.m.; Nate Stanton, 4:40 to 5 p.m.; Rock N Royalty, 5 to 5:10 pm.; Three Legged Chair, 5:30 to 6 p.m.; Two of a Kind, 6:10 to 6:40 p.m.; Halfway Home, 6:50 to 7:20 p.m.; The Jammin’ Dans, 7:30 to 8 p.m.; and No Expectations, 8 to 8:20 p.m. Instead of paying admission to the concert, guests will be asked to donate $5 or 10 nonperishable food items for the Foodbank. In addition to the Rock for a Good Cause concert, the Fairlawn and Hudson Schools of Music are hosting a food and funds drive at both sites and are a sponsor of the Foodbank’s Virtual Idol competition.
