Celtic Club celebrates 250th birthday of Robert Burns

NEW FRANKLIN — The Celtic Club and the Canton-Akron Scottish Heritage Association (CASHA) sponsored the 12th annual Robert Burns Night Jan. 17 at Anthe’s restaurant to celebrate the 250th birthday of Scotland’s poet laureate.

The event featured the Studio 723 Scottish Highland Dancers from Bay Village, under the direction of Sara Alison Gilchrist, and the ceilidh band The Mickeys.
Pictured at right, from left, are Highland Dancers Fiona Allan, Sarah Limbacher, Lila Greco and Robyn Pearce, and The Mickeys, including Anne Alexander, Bobbi Horvath, Mick Hurray and Dave Materna.
Alexander was the 2007 National Gaelic Mod gold medalist, and Bobbi Horvath was the 2005 Ohio Scottish Games Fiddle Competition gold medalist.
