PENINSULA — Boy Scouts from the Akron area celebrated the 100th anniversary of Scouting at the Great Trail Council, Boy Scouts of America Jamborall 2010 at Manatoc Scout Reservation May 21-23. The weekend event allowed Scouts and their leaders to explore topics such as rocketry and orienteering and compete in athletic contests.

Members of Boy Scout Troop No. 385, from Bath, are shown at right top with Scoutmaster Steve Morris as they plot compass courses at the event. The troop’s Chris Morris, 11, is pictured at right middle working with his compass as his father assists other troop members.

Another highlight of the day was a demonstration of the Metro Life Flight’s MedEvac helicopter, which is shown at right bottom as it readies to depart. Youths also enjoyed displays on topics such as the outdoors, animals and history.
