South Side Neighborhood Watch
COVENTRY: Summit County sheriff’s deputies responded to an alarm at a South Arlington Road business the night of May 31. An employee reported he saw two males flee across the parking lot. Nothing was reported missing.
On June 3, deputies went to a Manchester Road motel and arrested an Akron man on a warrant for theft. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.
A woman reported June 3 that she left her wallet on the counter of a Manchester Road grocery store, and when she returned for it, the wallet was missing.
An employee of a Massillon Road medical facility reported someone spray-painted her vehicle, which was parked in the parking lot June 4.
Also on June 4, deputies went to a Lakeway Drive residence and arrested an Akron man on a warrant for domestic violence and took him to the Summit County Jail.
Employees of an East Waterloo Road gas station reported June 5 that someone stole $56 in beer and fled in a tan Nissan.
A Lake Vista Avenue woman reported June 6 that someone entered her residence through an unlocked door and ransacked her dresser drawers and closet. Nothing of value was reported missing.
The guardian of two girls, ages 11 and 14, reported they told her that a neighbor exposed his private parts to them at a Bender Avenue location June 7. Deputies interviewed the suspect, who denied the allegation. He was arrested on a warrant and released to the Springfield Police Department.
Deputies were called to a West Turkeyfoot Lake Road residence June 8 by a man who reported his neighbor was shooting outside his residence and the bullets were entering his backyard, where his children were playing. The shooter told deputies he built up a backstop to prevent stray bullets from entering his neighbor’s yard, and officers advised him to make sure it did not happen again.
A South Main Street car dealership reported June 8 that someone stole a 1999 Dodge Durango from the car lot the previous night. The vehicle was locked and the dealer has both sets of keys.
On June 9, a Lakota Avenue woman reported an Akron man continues to call her despite being told not to call following an incident at a bar. Deputies contacted the man, and he agreed to stop calling.
Deputies arrested an Akron woman for assault and disorderly conduct June 9 after she reportedly went to a South Main Street bar and began arguing with a female patron about her ex-boyfriend, chased the woman as she ran behind the bar and into an office and assaulted her. The suspect was uncooperative with police, who took her into custody and transported her to the Summit County Jail.

GREEN: On June 1, Summit County sheriff’s deputies went to an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road residence, arrested a woman on a warrant and charged her with possession of drug abuse instruments that were found in her purse during the arrest.
Deputies patrolling Steese Road June 3 stopped a Uniontown man for lane violations and arrested him for DUI and endangering children, ages 11 and 14, who were traveling with him.
A Stow man reported someone broke a window of his vehicle outside a Fortuna Drive theater the night of June 3 and stole a $2,000 computer and bag.
A Marlboro Road woman reported June 4 that someone stole $600 from her home.
Deputies responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a South Arlington Road business June 5 and stopped the driver of a vehicle leaving the scene. The Canton man was questioned about the incident and arrested on a warrant from Stow and three warrants from Cuyahoga County. He was released to the Stow Police Department.
On June 6, an employee of a Thorn Drive hotel reported a Louisville man called him and demanded information about his ex-girlfriend. When he told the man he could not provide that information, the man threatened to harm him. Deputies contacted the suspect, who denied making threats, and advised him to have no contact with the victim.
Employees of a South Main Street store reported June 6 that an unknown female shoplifted several items and fled.
A Cleveland woman was arrested for theft of $215 in merchandise from a South Arlington Road store June 7.
Someone entered two vehicles outside a Chilham Circle residence June 8 and stole money.
On June 9, deputies reviewed video footage that showed a customer steal an employee’s cell phone from a counter at a South Main Street specialty store. Officers made a copy of the video and are seeking the suspect.
Deputies patrolling Interstate 77 June 10 stopped the driver of a vehicle with a cracked windshield and no front license plate. Officers determined the rear plate on the vehicle had been stolen and arrested the driver for receiving stolen property and driving under suspension, and took him to the Summit County Jail.

LAKEMORE: A Linway Drive man questioned by police June 6 after arguing with his girlfriend at Dodd’s Park was found to have two warrants out of Barberton. Police arrested him and turned him over to the Barberton Police Department.

NEW FRANKLIN: A West Nimisila Road woman reported June 2 that eggs were thrown at her vehicle while it was parked in her driveway.
A West Nimisila Road man reported June 3 that $770 worth of items, including tools and a stroller, were stolen from his garage.
A Norman Drive woman reported that while her locked vehicle was in a Manchester Road parking lot June 3, her wallet was stolen, along with cash, checks, a credit card and her driver’s license, and $126 worth of charges were made on a credit card.
A Dayton Street man was arrested on South Main Street for driving under the influence June 3 following a stop for a traffic violation.

SPRINGFIELD: Police charged an East Market Street man with theft June 5 after the owner of an East Waterloo Road bar and restaurant reported the man ran up a $46 bill and could not pay the tab. The man also was charged with obstruction for refusing to remove his shoes and empty his pockets after being arrested and then slapping an officer’s hands when he tried to do it.
A Lake Road man was arrested for violating a protection order June 5 when he was found standing in the driveway of a neighbor woman who had filed for the order.
Six people were charged with theft after allegedly stealing from a South Arlington Road store June 5-8, including: an East Exchange Street woman, a Johnland Avenue woman and a Cleveland woman for taking $356 in items; a Cross Street man for taking $98 in items; a Kent man for taking $349 in items; and an East Market Street man for taking $330 in items.
A Green juvenile male also was charged with theft after allegedly stealing $53 in clothing from another South Arlington Road store June 6.
Almost $2,000 worth of jewelry and cash was reported stolen from a Kubler Trail home June 6.
A Wadsworth Road man was charged with disorderly conduct due to intoxication, having an open container of beer and resisting arrest June 6. Police found the man in the parking lot of a Canton Road gaming establishment, and when they tried to arrest him, he refused to cooperate.
Police charged a Munroe Falls Road woman with assault after her live-in boyfriend reported she assaulted him during an argument June 7.
An Alfa Avenue woman reported June 7 that after having lunch with an acquaintance, she got into her car and the Pauline Avenue man reached in, grabbed her breasts and tried to kiss her.
A Hillstock Avenue man reported June 8 that an ex-girlfriend, who lives on Darrow Road, withdrew $2,510 from his bank account without permission.
