COVENTRY: A woman reported July 11 that her ex-husband’s girlfriend threatened to harm her during a custody exchange at a Manchester Road restaurant parking lot. Deputies contacted the Akron woman, who denied making threats, and told her to have no contact with the victim.

A Boat Drive woman reported July 11 that a neighbor sent her an unwanted text message. Deputies contacted the woman and advised both parties to have no contact with each other.

Deputies patrolling Manchester Road July 13 stopped an Akron man after discovering he was wanted on a warrant. He was arrested and released to Akron Police.

On July 15, deputies investigated the burglary of a Proehl Avenue residence, where a man reported the rear door of his residence was forced open and the glass was broken. Nothing was reported missing.

A Fairview Avenue man reported July 15 that a Barberton man stole his cell phone while he was visiting. The victim reported the suspect later returned the phone, and he declined to file charges.

An Ethan Allen Road man reported July 15 that someone entered his residence and stole $97. Police found no sign of forced entry.

The manager of a South Main Street grocery store reported someone stole merchandise from the store July 16 and left in a vehicle. Deputies are reviewing video surveillance footage of the store and parking lot.

A Dorwil Drive man reported July 17 that someone in Southern Ohio used his personal information to open a business account.

On July 17, a South Main Street woman called deputies after hearing a noise at the back door of her residence. Deputies observed a man sitting on a chair on the deck of her residence. He said he was there to party and stated he was going to light the fire. He had damaged the victim’s gas grill and placed sticks on top of it, which he was preparing to light. Deputies arrested the Akron man for criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct and took him to the Summit County Jail.

A Dorwil Drive man reported July 19 that $6,000 in diamond jewelry was stolen from a bedroom closet. There were no signs of forced entry, and the victim said he believes a guest was responsible.

GREEN: Deputies investigated a report of theft at a location on Lakefront Drive July 15. Someone had entered the residence, broke a lockbox and stole a safe containing 760 one-dollar bills, $300 in coins and $600 in bonds.

An Everbright Drive woman reported July 16 that someone slashed a tire on her vehicle, causing $100 in damage.

Deputies investigated a report of forgery July 16 when a Massillon Road man reported someone forged his name on one of his checks and cashed it for $448.

Someone smashed the front door glass of a residence on Neptune Drive July 16.

Employees of an Interstate Parkway automotive business reported a North Canton man stole $40 July 16. The suspect returned the money and the victim declined to file charges.

On July 16, airline employees called deputies to the airport for a North Canton woman who had created a disturbance on an incoming flight. Employees said she refused to sit down, continued to yell at flight attendants and pushed a cart against two people. When employees gave her a copy of FAA rules for passengers, she threw it on the floor. When the plane landed and the passenger disembarked, she was arrested for disorderly conduct and released with a summons.

Employees of a South Main Street jewelry store reported July 17 that two females stole $200 in merchandise.

Deputies responded to a report that a 2-year-old child was wandering alone in the roadway on Bonna Drive July 17. Deputies took the child home and spoke to his mother, who said she was unaware he was outside. Officers notified a county children’s services agency.

A Samoa Drive woman reported July 18 that her mailbox had been stolen.

On July 18, deputies responded to a disturbance at a Fortune Drive hotel where a woman reported a verbal argument with a man turned physical and he struck her. The Akron man was arrested for assault and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Suspects knocked over a golfer statue outside a residence on Prestwick Drive July 19, causing $250 in damage.

A Melanie Drive woman reported July 19 that someone broke into a vehicle outside her residence and stole a $250 laptop computer and work boots.

LAKEMORE: On July 14 on Lakeside Drive, someone threw a brick through rear windshields and damaged rear brake lights on two vehicles and also damaged a convertible top on one of the cars. 

A garage on Stinard Avenue was entered July 15 after someone broke a sensor light and a doorknob, and two patio chairs were stolen.

Russet Lane and Wooster Road women were charged with theft after allegedly stealing $19 in items from a Canton Road store July 16.

Police charged a Springfield Lake Drive woman with domestic violence July 17 after her husband reported she attacked him during an argument about a child.

Four tires on a vehicle parked on Shelton Court were punctured and tomato sauce was spread over it July 17.

NEW FRANKLIN: A Carnegie Avenue woman was arrested for criminal damaging at Faith Avenue July 16. Following an argument with a Stanwood Avenue man, she reportedly backed her vehicle into his, causing damage and later returned to the residence and punched out a glass pane in the front door. She allegedly admitted to causing the damages.

A Lahm Drive woman reported July 16 the molding around her garage had been damaged.

A Lester Road man told police July 20 he found an envelope containing money on Canterbury Drive.

Police found a vehicle in a Manchester Road parking lot July 21 that had been damaged. They discovered the car had been stolen from an Akron business and also had stolen license plates, which were returned to the owner.

While on patrol July 21, police discovered a fire extinguisher in a Renninger Road parking lot that had been discharged in the area.

SPRINGFIELD: A Delaware Avenue man reported July 15 a Meadow Drive man stopped to look at scrap metal on his property, but left when he was confronted.

A Moore Street man was charged with aggravated menacing July 15 after police heard a phone message he left for his ex-girlfriend, telling her he would “put a bullet in her.”

A home on Utica Avenue was entered July 15 and a pistol and $50 was reported stolen.

A Killian Road man reported $60, prescription medicine and a vehicle’s registration and insurance information was stolen July 16.

A Hilbish Avenue woman reported July 16 her bank informed her three paychecks she deposited from a Virginia company that she did online work for were returned as insufficient funds and she was also charged with a penalty fee.

On July 17, a Norton man caught burning brush at a Canton Road location was charged with open burning and issued a summons.

The next day, a Tritt Avenue woman reported she believes an 18-year-old male acquaintance stole prescription medicine from her.

A Coach Lane man reported the theft of prescription medicine July 19.

An opal ring, a marine battery and a car battery were reported stolen from a Delaware Avenue home July 19.

Police charged a Mapleton Street Southeast man with deception to obtain a dangerous drug after he allegedly submitted an altered prescription to a South Arlington Road pharmacy July 19. He was arrested and taken to jail.

A Springfield juvenile male was charged with unruliness for breaking curfew July 19 after he was found riding a bicycle down Avis Street at 1:30 a.m. He was arrested and released to an adult.

On July 20, a man and a woman from Massillon, a woman from Cleveland and a juvenile male from Massillon were charged with theft after they were allegedly caught stealing from a South Arlington Road store. The adults were issued a summons and released, and the youth was wanted on a warrant and taken to a juvenile detention center.
