Town Hall Meeting to focus on safety
HIGHLAND SQUARE — Summit County Councilman Frank Comunale (D-District 4) will host a Town Hall Meeting to discuss “Safety in the Event of a Violent Intruder Attack” Feb. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Highland Square Branch Library, 807 W. Market St. Lt. Joseph Hendry Jr., of Kent State University Police Services, will be the guest speaker.
Hendry is a master instructor for the State of Ohio Single Officer Response to Active Threats and a terrorism liaison officer with the Ohio Department of Homeland Security. According to Comunale, Hendry is a certified instructor in tactical chemical weapons, preventing and responding to suicide bombing incidents, active shooter response and ALICE (Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter and Evacuate) training.
Everyone is welcome to attend.
Comunale will present ideas and suggestions to protect your home and property. He also will be available to answer questions and hear concerns from constituents.
Block watch groups have been established in the Highland Square and Georgetown neighborhoods and meet monthly (Highland Square on the first Thursday and Georgetown on the second Tuesday of the month).
District 4 includes part of the city of Akron, part of Bath Township and part of the city of Cuyahoga Falls. For more information, call the Summit County Council Office at 330-643-2725.
