SPRINGFIELD — A Metro SWAT training session was held Jan. 16 at the former Springfield Local School District’s Milroy Elementary building, shown at right top, on Killian Road, according to property owner David Schipper.

According to Schipper, about 30 law enforcement officers and medical professionals from 19 area jurisdictions participated in the training session on various school scenarios. One group is shown at right bottom during an exercise. The Metro SWAT team then moved to a Pressler Road building in Springfield for a mock exercise, he said.

“As the property owner, I feel good knowing our local experts in law enforcement are well-rehearsed for many scenarios they may be called to respond to,” said Schipper. “It was my privilege to participate by providing use of this property.”
