COVENTRY: On Dec. 25, Summit County sheriff’s deputies investigated a report by a Culbertson Drive woman who said her dog has been sick for several weeks, and she recently found scraps of meat in her fenced yard. She suspects someone is trying to poison her dog.
A Portage Lakes Drive woman reported Dec. 28 an Akron man allegedly threatened to blow up her home during a phone conversation with her. Deputies were unable to contact the man.
Deputies investigated a burglary and theft at a North Bender Avenue residence Dec. 29, when someone entered an unlocked garage and stole a $200 snow blower.
An Akron woman located at a Longacre Drive residence Dec. 31 was arrested on a felony theft warrant and taken to the Summit County Jail.
An Edgepark Drive resident reported Jan. 4 a tire and rim, which were leaning against a vehicle outside the residence, were stolen the previous night.
Employees of a Manchester Road grocery store stopped a woman who left the store without paying for a $42 cane Jan. 4. She said she had been told by a manager of another store in the chain that she could have the cane free of charge due to her difficulty in obtaining it at the other store. Employees of the other store said no one told her she could have the cane, and she was charged with theft and released with a court summons.
Deputies investigated a report of attempted burglary at a Lockwood Drive residence the night of Jan. 4, when someone unhooked garage door sensors in a failed attempt to gain entry.
A man reported a spare tire cover on his car was damaged when it went through a Manchester Road car wash Jan. 5.

GREEN: Summit County sheriff’s deputies were called to a disturbance at a Long Road residence Dec. 24. A male and female became involved in an argument, and the male allegedly punched the female in the face several times. The victim was treated and released by EMS. She refused to file charges, and the two were advised to separate for the night.
A woman reported the window of her car was broken while the vehicle was parked in an Interstate Parkway lot Dec. 26 and her purse was stolen.
Employees of a Corporate Woods Parkway motel reported Dec. 26 a North Canton man stayed in his room past checkout time due to extreme intoxication, and he was unable to pay for a second night’s stay. Deputies arranged for his transport to a hospital.
On Dec. 26, deputies were seeking the people responsible for using white paint to write graffiti on the roadway on Fernwood Way.
Deputies observed a man urinating in the parking lot of a Massillon Road gas station around midnight Dec. 28 and arrested the North Canton man for public indecency.
A Florida woman called deputies to the Akron-Canton Airport Dec. 29 when she discovered cosmetics, jewelry and $500 designer eyeglasses were stolen from her checked luggage on a commercial flight from Jacksonville to Akron.
A South Main Street man reported Dec. 29 an Ido Avenue female allegedly pushed him down a flight of stairs during an argument at his residence. The victim was evaluated by EMS and transported to a hospital. He declined to file charges against the female.
On Dec. 30, a Shikellamy Drive man reported his metal mailbox was damaged.
A Dove’s Crossing man reported he saw an unknown male steal a $250 satellite radio from a vehicle outside his residence the night of Dec. 30. He confronted the suspect, who dropped the radio, entered a white vehicle and fled.
Deputies are seeking the person who climbed on the second story of a building at a construction site on East Turkeyfoot Lake Road Dec. 30 and stole a 400-foot copper building cable.
Deputies investigated the theft of an unlocked vehicle containing construction tools from the parking lot of a Fortuna Drive hotel between Dec. 31 and Jan. 2.
On Jan. 3, deputies went to a location on Steelwood Circle, arrested a Canton woman and released her to the Brecksville Police Department on a warrant.

LAKEMORE: An Elizabeth Avenue woman reported Dec. 20 she received a letter regarding changes to a credit card she does not possess.
On Dec. 29, a Raymond Avenue man called police to report an Oriole Avenue woman who has been told to stay away was on the property. Police patted her down and discovered marijuana. The woman was charged with possession of drugs and criminal trespassing.
A Lakeshore Drive man was charged with criminal mischief Jan. 5 after reportedly kicking over a trash can on Danforth Road while driving by it on his bicycle.

NEW FRANKLIN: A West Nimisila Road man reported Dec. 25 a $3,000 diamond ring was stolen from his bedroom.
A Pamela Drive man was arrested during a traffic stop on Manchester Road Dec. 27 and charged with driving under the influence and operating a vehicle while under suspension.
A Regay Drive man reported nine checks were stolen between Dec. 20 and Dec. 27.
A clerk at a West Nimisila Road business reported Dec. 28 a customer was acting strangely and had one hand behind his back while other customers were in the business. The male customer reportedly was holding a handgun behind his back when he exited the store. Police searched the area for the man but could not find him.
On Dec. 30 on State Road, police came into contact with a man who had an active warrant out of New Franklin for failure to appear. He was arrested and transported to jail.
A West Nimisila Road man reported Dec. 31 unauthorized purchases totaling $665 on his credit card.

SPRINGFIELD: An employee of a Canton Road fast-food restaurant reported Dec. 14 she received a call from someone claiming to be from an electric company, telling her electricity would be shut off unless she paid the bill in cash. She paid the man $1,003, and it was discovered he was not from the electric company.
A Coach Lane man ran off after stealing $53 in items from an East Waterloo Road store Dec. 17. Police found him three blocks away and charged him with theft.
Police are investigating the theft of $263 in items from a South Arlington Road store by three women who escaped in a car Dec. 19. Police tracked down the owner of the vehicle, but the woman told police she loaned her car to a friend and does not know how to contact her.
Also on that day, a Massillon Road woman reported an acquaintance left her a threatening message on a social media website. Police are investigating.
Police and EMS were called to a Coach Lane home for an apparent overdose Dec. 20. A woman said her brother collapsed on the floor of her bathroom. He was transported to a hospital, and a hypodermic needle and spoon with residue were confiscated from the bathroom.
A Third Street man and woman were charged with theft Dec. 20 after stealing $336 in items from a South Arlington Road store and trying to return the items for cash.
The next day, an Audubon Road man was charged with theft after allegedly stealing a $298 surround-sound system from the same store.
Police charged a Forbes Avenue man with trafficking and obstruction Dec. 21 after a brief foot chase. Police had approached the man as he sat in a car parked by a South Arlington Road hotel and noticed he was smoking marijuana. He ran off but was apprehended shortly. He was found with packages of marijuana, crack and cocaine, as well as $657 in cash.
During a traffic stop the next day, a 12th Street Southwest woman was charged with possession of drugs and marijuana after she was found with a bag containing white powder and burnt paper with marijuana.
Police followed footprints in the snow from a home that had been spray painted Dec. 22 to the window of a home with the same color paint on its sill. After investigating, a 14-year-old Springfield male was charged with criminal mischief.
Also on that day, police began investigating a report by a Springfield woman who said an acquaintance and his friend allegedly raped her at a Massillon Road motel. Police confiscated evidence from the room.
On Dec. 23, the front glass door on a Canton Road business was shattered.
A Hillstock Avenue man called police to report a 51-year-old Abington Road friend visited him, and the man proposed to his 16-year-old daughter. He told the man to leave and not to return, and police told the man to have no further contact with anyone in the family.
Four juvenile males from Springfield were charged with theft and unruliness Dec. 23. A Lee Drive man had chased after the group when they took his wallet from his car. One was additionally charged with possession of a marijuana pipe. The juveniles were released to their parents.
During a traffic stop Dec. 24, a North Royalton man was found to be driving under suspension and with 79 pseudoephedrine pills, four bags, a plasma TV, air compressor and tools. A warrant was issued for his arrest later that day on charges of illegal assembly of chemicals to manufacture drugs. He turned himself in and was transported to the Summit County Jail.
A car on Toepfer Road was entered Dec. 26, and a GPS unit and $5 were taken.
Police were called to a Canton Road fast-food restaurant for a suspicious person Dec. 28. A 15-year-old male found with marijuana was charged with possession of drugs and released to his parents.
A Tower View woman reported she set her purse down for a moment while shopping at a South Arlington Road store Dec. 28, and someone stole it. The purse contained checks, five credit cards, $300 cash, $300 in gift cards and a cellphone. Police viewed security video and determined a woman and man took it.
Police assisted in an EMS call to a Killian Road storage facility Dec. 28. A Connecticut Court man was found unconscious and lying on his back, with a bump on his head and bleeding from his nose. The man also smelled of alcohol. After a check, police discovered he had a carry concealed permit. The man was revived and asked about it, and the man admitted he had a loaded weapon in his jacket pocket. The man was charged with using a weapon while intoxicated.
Police charged a Rolling Meadows man with domestic violence Dec. 29 after he apparently punched his stepson in the nose during an argument.
A Neptune Avenue woman reported she was at a South Arlington Road store and went to use the restroom Dec. 29. When she came out of the stall, her boyfriend was there, and he punched her in the face, grabbed her purse and ran off.
Police found a Chevy blazer that was reported stolen out of Medina County in the parking lot of an Abington Road hotel Dec. 30. The owner was called to retrieve it.
A 13-year-old Springfield male was charged with theft Dec. 31 after police learned he was not mentally disabled, as his mother had claimed earlier. The male had been caught stealing a $750 TV from a South Arlington Road store Dec. 13, and he had not been charged because of what was perceived to be a disability.
