AKRON: Officers charged a male and two females with aggravated robbery in connection with an incident Dec. 29 when one of the females made arrangements for a pizza delivery driver to be at a location, near Castle Boulevard, so the male could rob him.

Suspects forced open the door of an attached garage at a residence on California Avenue Dec. 30 and stole 2005 Yamaha and 2008 Suzuki sport vehicles.

Police investigated burglary reports at two residences on Kenmore Boulevard between the night of Dec. 31 and the afternoon of Jan. 1. Suspects entered the first residence through the front door. Nothing was reported missing. They forced their way into the second residence through a back door and stole a DVD player, stereo and video games.

Following an investigation by detectives, police arrested an Akron man for extortion Jan. 2 as he waited outside a downtown credit union for a victim to come out. When the victim saw the suspect, he called 9-1-1, and police arrested him. The suspect allegedly has been intimidating and taking money from the victim for more than four years.

Officers arrested a Parkway Drive couple Jan. 2. The two were apprehended as they left a Tallmadge Avenue business after attempting to break in. The male was charged with aggravated robbery and possession of criminal tools. The female was charged with complicity to commit robbery.

A Treetop Trail man was arrested for aggravated robbery Jan. 2 for allegedly robbing a pizza delivery driver at a Kimlyn Circle location.

On Jan. 2, following a brief stand-off at a Noble Avenue residence, police arrested a man on warrants for misconduct at an emergency, burglary and several traffic offenses. The charges stem from an incident at a Delia Avenue residence Dec. 10, when the suspect got into an altercation with EMS workers who were treating someone at the residence. He fled before police arrived.

Employees of a Manchester Road pizza restaurant reported Jan. 4 they were robbed by a man who came into the kitchen and pointed a gun at them. He demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount. The suspect is described as a white male, in his 30s, around 6 feet tall, of medium build, and wearing a tan Carhartt jacket and a black mask.

BATH: A woman reported money was stolen from her purse, which was in an upstairs bedroom of a San Moritz Road residence, during a party Dec. 26.

Police were called to a domestic disturbance involving a man and woman at a Short Hills Drive residence Dec. 27. A can of pepper spray had been discharged inside the residence, but officers were unable to determine who had discharged it. No charges were filed.

On Dec. 27, officers patrolling a Montrose parking lot heard the engine of a car revving and tires squealing. Police observed a vehicle spin out of control and stop on Medina Road, where they stopped the driver. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI and possession of a drug pipe, which was found inside the vehicle. His BAC tested 0.231.

Paramedics who were called to a medical emergency in a Montrose hotel room Dec. 30 requested police presence. Officers noticed the odor of marijuana and asked the daughter of the victim if there were any drugs in the room. She gave them two small bags of suspected marijuana from her purse. The victim was transported to a hospital, and police confiscated the substance for testing.

On Jan. 1, officers investigated the burglary of a Springwater Road residence where a man reported he left home around 3:30 p.m. and returned several hours later to find suspects had entered his residence through a patio door and stole jewelry, cameras and a DVD player. When officers followed footprints leading from the scene, they determined the suspect went to a vacant house on the same street and broke into it by damaging a garage door and a door leading from the garage to the house.

A Crystal Lake Road woman reported Jan. 3 suspects broke into her house during her absence and stole several items.

A Rock Creek Road man reported Jan. 3 suspects used his identity to open several credit card accounts in his name. He said Los Angeles County police arrested a man who attempted to purchase merchandise using the victim’s identity.

COPLEY: The owner of a Copley Road business reported Dec. 26 a man rented a tool and paid for the rental by writing a check on a closed account. When he returned the tool it was damaged and cost $319 to repair, causing a total loss to the business of more than $600. The owner has been unable to contact the suspect.

Suspects entered a vehicle parked outside a South Cleveland-Massillon Road residence Dec. 27 and stole several items.

Police received a call from Fairlawn officers that an erratic driver was entering Copley Township heading south on South Cleveland-Massillon Road Dec. 28. Officers spotted the vehicle, stopped the driver for a traffic violation and arrested him for DUI.

On Dec. 29, officers were dispatched to an Oak Tree Drive residence, where a juvenile was out of control after allegedly using drugs at a friend’s house. He was evaluated by EMS workers, who determined he was not in need of hospital transport.

The owner of an auto repair business on Copley Road reported Dec. 29 suspects stole a wheel from a vehicle parked outside the business awaiting repair. The suspects then rummaged through a pile of tires to find one that fit the wheel.

Police investigated a suspicious vehicle parked in a cul-de-sac on Continental Pointe Drive around 2:30 a.m. Dec. 30 and identified four juveniles in the vehicle. They were returned to their parents.

A Vale Drive woman reported Dec. 31 her estranged husband came to the residence and assaulted her boyfriend. The suspect was gone when police arrived.

On Jan. 1, police were seeking suspects who vandalized Christmas lights in a display at Copley Circle, causing $300 worth of damage.

FAIRLAWN: A woman was arrested for shoplifting Dec. 24 after security agents at a Montrose discount store observed her place 13 items in her purse and push a cart through a checkout line, paying only for items in the cart. She was charged with theft and released with a court summons. The merchandise was returned to the store.

On Dec. 26, police picked up a man arrested by Springfield Township police on a Fairlawn warrant for carrying a concealed weapon. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.

Officers patrolling South Miller Road Dec. 28 stopped a driver of a vehicle from which gasoline was leaking and released him to Norton police on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

Suspects broke into a vehicle parked outside a Chamberlain Road residence between Dec. 25 and Dec. 28 and peeled the steering column and dashboard of the vehicle in an attempt to steal it. Toys wrapped in holiday paper were stolen from the back seat of the vehicle.

On Dec. 28, police investigated the theft of hubcaps from two vehicles in the parking lot of Summit Mall. One driver reported two hubcaps were stolen from a Toyota Camry and another reported two front hubcaps were stolen from a Volkswagen Jetta.

Officers stopped a driver of a vehicle with no front license plate on West Market Street Dec. 30 and arrested him for driving without a license. He was released to Copley police on a warrant for failure to appear in court on a traffic violation.

Police investigated a report of identity theft Dec. 30 filed by a woman who said she has been receiving calls from a collection agency attempting to collect a debt from a cell phone company, with whom she has never had an account. Suspects, using the victim’s identity, purchased cell phones at several locations.

NORTON: A Hillier Road resident reported he came home Dec. 24 to find Christmas presents outside his residence. The presents bore the names of his child’s mother and her husband, whom he suspects damaged the door to his residence in an attempt to enter. Police were investigating.

Officers were called to a Medina Line Road residence Dec. 25 when a woman reported her husband attacked her and began beating her son. When her son’s girlfriend attempted to intervene, he reportedly threatened her, and the victims ran out of the house. Police interviewed all parties and arrested the male for domestic violence. He was taken to the Summit County Jail.

On Dec. 26, suspects stole a license plate from a vehicle outside a South Cleveland-Massillon Road auto repair business. The victim believes a man, whose license plate was expired, took the plate and went to Texas.

Suspects stole a mobility scooter from the porch of a residence on Grenfall Road Dec. 30.

Police patrolling Interstate 76 Jan. 2 observed a vehicle parked along the highway and a male and female standing outside the car struggling with each other. The two provided conflicting accounts of what had happened and each reported being punched by the other. The male had been riding in the female’s car when they had a fight and the male exited the vehicle. The struggle reportedly occurred when the female attempted to get the male back into the car. Both were charged with disorderly conduct, and police drove the male to a relative’s home in Barberton.

RICHFIELD: Police officers patrolling Brecksville Road Dec. 21 observed a vehicle without a license plate. They followed the car and stopped the driver for a traffic violation. He was charged with driving under suspension and released to Rocky River police on an outstanding warrant.

The driver of a tractor-trailer reported Dec. 23 he was driving on Interstate 271, and when he went under the Everett Road Bridge, a rock struck his vehicle, shattering the windshield and damaging a passenger window. Police investigated and located four juveniles at a nearby house. They admitted throwing rocks at vehicles and said there were several vehicles, including trucks, under the bridge when they threw the rocks. Charges against the juveniles were pending.

Officers responded to a report of a vehicle accident on Southern Road Dec. 26 and found a Jeep Wrangler, which apparently skidded off the road and struck a tree. The driver was transported to a hospital for treatment of serious injuries. According to the victim, a driver of a Jeep Liberty had been tailgating him as he drove on Southern Road, so he slammed on his brakes, which caused his vehicle to skid off the road. The other vehicle struck his and drove it into the tree and then drove through a yard and left the scene. A friend of the victim, who was traveling with him in another vehicle, told police he was ahead of the victim, and he saw the other driver tailgating, but he did not see the crash. Police located the other driver two days later. Due to the seriousness of the victim’s injuries, police charged him with a fifth-degree felony for leaving the scene of an accident.
