COVENTRY: A Flynn Drive resident reported Aug. 15 that suspects entered an unlocked shed on the property and stole a mountain bike worth $600.

Deputies responded to a call of a domestic disturbance at an Elderberry Avenue residence Aug. 17 after a woman reported her fiance physically assaulted her during an argument, causing visible injuries to her neck and a laceration on her ear. The suspect, who was highly intoxicated, admitted assaulting her and was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the Summit County Jail. The charge was a third-degree felony, due to previous convictions for domestic violence.

Suspects used an unknown device to damage the door and jamb in an attempt to enter a professional office on Portage Lakes Drive Aug. 17.

On Aug. 17, deputies were seeking a South Main Street female on a warrant for passing bad checks after a utility company reported unsuccessful attempts to collect money after a check the suspect wrote was returned to the company by the bank and was not paid.

A Mallard Pointe Drive woman reported Aug. 17 unknown suspects used her name and personal identification information to acquire utility service to an apartment on Moon Drive, and the company has billed her $300 for service to the address. The victim did not request the service and never lived at the address.

Deputies investigated the theft of dealer license plates from a vehicle parked in the lot of an auto auction on Ley Drive Aug. 18. Officers were unable to locate suspects, and information regarding the stolen plates was entered into L.E.A.D.S., a database for stolen vehicles. The information will be available to law enforcement agencies locally and across the country.

A Radnor Road woman reported Aug. 19 suspects entered an unlocked vehicle outside her residence and stole silverware, contact lenses and a wallet containing $100.

Summit County sheriff’s deputies executed a search warrant at a Manchester Road business Aug. 20 and found 63 gaming machines. Money also was seized from the property. A 66-year-old man and 50-year-old man were both charged with six counts of operating a gambling house, first-degree misdemeanors.

Also on that day, Summit County sheriff’s deputies Christopher Rhoades Jr. and Brad Tackett responded to a call from a Chaffin Road residence for an unresponsive man who was not breathing. The deputies performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation and succeeded in getting the victim breathing again. Coventry Fire EMS also responded and was instrumental in helping to save the victim while transporting him to Akron General Medical Center where he was in serious condition, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

GREEN: Deputies investigated the burglary of a Buhl Drive residence Aug. 16 after suspects forced open the rear door between 2 and 6:30 a.m., and stole a $2,400 laptop computer and money.

Following an investigation, deputies executed a search warrant at a Frawood Drive residence Aug. 17 and arrested a man for cultivating marijuana, possession of criminal tools and possession of drug paraphernalia, and took him to the Summit County Jail. Marijuana plants were confiscated from the residence.

Suspects in a vehicle caused damage to freshly planted grass and sod outside a Madonna Avenue residence Aug. 17.

Deputies investigated an Aug. 17 report filed by a Town Park Boulevard business owner who said an employee failed to deposit two bank deposit bags filled with $685. The bags were located in the suspect’s car. The victim declined charges and terminated the suspect’s employment.

On Aug. 18, deputies arrested an Akron woman for menacing after a Thursby Road man reported she left threatening messages on his cell phone. The suspect admitted threatening the victim.

An employee of a South Arlington Road gas station reported Aug. 17 a male returned antifreeze at the checkout counter and received a cash refund. The victim later realized he had taken it from the shelf without paying for it.

Deputies investigated an alarm at the Ohio Beauty Cut-Stone retail store on West Turkeyfoot Lake Road Aug. 18 and observed a vehicle leaving the parking lot. Officers stopped the driver and observed items stolen from the business in the vehicle along with bolt cutters and a pry bar. A 43-year-old man was arrested on two counts of breaking and entering.

Suspects damaged the rear door of an Arlington Ridge Road business office Aug. 18 in an attempt to enter it.

On Aug. 19, a Greensburg Road woman reported a male who was staying at her residence was in the yard yelling and threatening to break windows to get in and harm her. Officers located him and charged him with disorderly conduct. He was taken to the Summit County Jail on a warrant for domestic violence.

A Max Road woman reported suspects stole a package containing a $170 item, which was delivered to her front porch by a delivery service Aug. 19.

LAKEMORE: A Cayuga Avenue resident reported Aug. 16 four tires and their rims were stolen from his vehicle, which he found up on blocks.

An 18-year-old Ithaca Avenue male was charged with underage consumption of alcohol and possession of marijuana Aug. 18 after he called police to report his girlfriend had passed out from an overdose of drugs and alcohol. A 20-year-old Calvin Street man also was charged with underage consumption.

A green stone fairy statue was stolen from a First Street yard Aug. 19.

On Aug. 21, police issued a warrant for a Marcy Street man on charges of aggravating menacing after he allegedly called his Mohican Avenue girlfriend and threatened to “bash her skull and kill her” and told her he would do the same thing to police if she called them.

NEW FRANKLIN: An Akron man was arrested for driving while under the influence on Manchester Road Aug. 16.

A Manchester Road man reported Aug 16 a window to his residence was forced open but nothing appeared to be missing.

A Will Drive woman reported Aug. 19 someone used her personal information to charge $800 at a Canton store and make an Internet purchase of $40.

A Bolivar man was arrested Aug. 22 on Hampsher Road for an insurance violation after police flagged him for failing to stop. Police discovered he had expired license plates and a suspended driver’s license.

SPRINGFIELD: A Mayfair Road woman was charged with having a dog at large when her neighbor called police to report the dog was in her yard Aug. 15.

A Bacon Avenue man was charged with theft after allegedly opening a $4 box of condoms, putting the contents in his pocket and leaving the Canton Road gas station without paying for them Aug. 15.

A Beach Drive Extension resident reported someone smeared ketchup, mustard and soup on his car Aug. 16.

Police charged a Mohawk Trail man with cultivation of drugs after responding to an anonymous tip and finding two small marijuana plants growing on his porch Aug. 17.

Copper pipe from a hot water tank, toilet, bathtub and sink, in addition to a kitchen sink, were stolen from an empty Van Lynn Road home Aug. 17.

A Wilpark Drive resident reported $800 in quarters was stolen from her home and someone rummaged through her freezer Aug. 17.

A debit card, two $25 gift cards and cash were stolen from a vehicle parked on Beach Drive Aug. 17.

The rearview mirror was ripped off the windshield of a car on Margaret Road Aug. 17.

Three people were charged with theft after allegedly stealing from a South Arlington Road store, including: a Berwin Street man for taking a $40 cell phone; an Ada Street male for taking $15 ear phones; and a Lovers Lane woman for taking $44 in clothing.

A Ravenswood Street woman was charged with assault and menacing after she allegedly attacked a Hammel Street man and a Sixth Street woman at a Massillon Road motel Aug. 18.

A Stanley Road woman was charged with theft after reportedly stealing $16 in items from an East Waterloo Road store Aug. 18.

Police are searching for a man who stole $15 in beer from a Gilchrist Road store Aug. 18. He was identified by a man who said he attended Alcohol Anonymous meetings with him.

On Aug. 17, a former Lakemore police officer was charged with theft after she reportedly tried to return $90 in unpaid merchandise at a South Arlington Road store and used police identification when confronted by security. Police confiscated her badge and ID and also charged her with impersonating a police officer.

Two tires with rims were stolen from a locked Hayne Road shed after someone broke into it Aug. 19.

An Old Home Road female returned to an East Waterloo Road gas station after leaving her $250 cell phone on the gas pump and discovered it had been stolen Aug. 19.

A Swinehart Road man reported an acquaintance threatened him Aug. 19 after he refused to return a $100 deposit to him when he decided not to purchase a car he was trying to sell.

A Marion Avenue resident reported someone broke the left rear brake light and turn signal on his car Aug. 19.

On Aug. 21, the glove box in a car on Grace Road car was ripped out and $4 in cash was stolen.

Someone stole $30 from a car parked on Wilson Road Aug. 21.

An air conditioner was removed from the window of a Lake Road home and the home was entered Aug. 21. A resident reported a 27-inch flat-screen TV, a mini refrigerator and tools were stolen.

A window on an East Waterloo business truck was broken out and a radio/CB and ratchet set were stolen Aug. 21.

Two females from Meadow Wood Lane and Country Club Drive were charged with theft after allegedly stealing $95 and $142, respectively, from a South Arlington Road department store Aug. 21.

Police charged a Titleist Drive woman with theft and forgery after she allegedly entered her estranged husband’s home, stole two checks, forged his signature and cashed one for $900 Aug. 22.

South Arlington Road department store security personnel reported an Ira Avenue man picked up shoes in the store and exchanged them for a $65 gift card Aug. 23.

Police are reviewing videotape of two males in a white Chevy pickup that drove into the garage door of a Canton Road drive-through Aug. 25 and stole lottery tickets and other items.
