COVENTRY: A road rage incident that began between two drivers on Interstate 77 Sept. 4 ended on South Arlington Road when the two drivers stopped at a traffic light. One exited his vehicle while carrying an unidentified object he used as a weapon and entered the other driver’s vehicle. While the victim was attempting to get out of his vehicle, the suspect used the object to strike his arms. The suspect got back into his vehicle and fled, and a witness followed him to an automotive business, where the suspect handed the object to two co-workers, who reportedly were unaware it had been used in the commission of a crime. Deputies responded to the location, confiscated the weapon and arrested the suspect for aggravated assault, carrying a concealed weapon and tampering with evidence, and took him to the Summit County Jail. The victim was treated by EMS and declined hospital transport.
Suspects stole four laptop computers from an exhibit at a South Arlington Road flea market Sept. 4.
Deputies are investigating the theft of a trailer and a leaf blower stolen from a Krebs Drive yard Sept. 4. The total loss is estimated at $1,450.
Employees at a Manchester Road grocery store observed two males attempting to shoplift items from the store Sept. 5. They were arrested for theft of a bottle of wine and corkscrew, and each was released with a court summons.
On Sept. 5, deputies investigated a report filed by an employee of a Manchester Road auto shop that stated a co-worker stole a knife and a vehicle. The following day, the suspect denied the allegations and reported that the victim, who is her former boyfriend, assaulted her. Due to conflicting information, the two were referred to the prosecutor’s office to file charges.
Deputies investigated an aggravated robbery at an East Waterloo Road gas station Sept. 6, when an employee reported a man drew a gun, pointed it at the employee and stole cash and lottery tickets. Deputies broadcast a description of the suspect, identified by a surveillance camera, and Akron police apprehended him. He was charged with aggravated robbery and taken to the Summit County Jail. His vehicle was taken to a lab to be processed for evidence.
Suspects broke a window of a State Street building Sept. 8 and pelted the building with orange paint balls.
A Portage Lakes Drive resident returned home Sept. 8 to find suspects had entered the home through an unlocked front door and stolen a 42-inch LCD TV, stereo system, TV stand, mini-refrigerator, DVDs and several bottles of prescription medication.
The owner of a Portage Lakes Drive business reported a suspicious male was in the restaurant asking for money and she gave him $10. He returned to the neighborhood Sept. 8 and was again panhandling and arguing with people. Deputies were unable to locate the suspect at the time.
Deputies investigated the burglary of a Warner Road residence Sept. 9, when suspects forced open a side door and stole jewelry.

GREEN: Deputies were called to an Alpine Boulevard residence Sept. 4, when a male and female were fighting over a stethoscope. The male reportedly took the item into a vehicle and began to burn it. The couple’s juvenile daughter reached through the window to retrieve the item and the male drove off, dragging the child, then crashed the vehicle into a trash can and the house. He was arrested for DUI, domestic violence, criminal damaging and child endangering, and taken to the Summit County Jail.
An employee of a Corporate Woods Parkway animal hospital reported Sept. 4 a woman who was previously charged with phone harassment for placing calls to the center after being told not to call, was calling again. Deputies again advised her not to call.
A spectator at a Steese Road stadium reported Sept. 4 an unknown male struck him from behind. The suspect was later identified, and deputies charged him with assault and released him with a court summons.
Suspects damaged a lighting fixture and steel pole outside a Spikerman Drive residence Sept. 5.
An Akron man reported a Greensburg Road man struck him with a rake while he was at the suspect’s home Sept. 6. The victim, who declined charges, was transported to Akron City Hospital for treatment of an eye injury.
Deputies were called to an Aldis Drive residence Sept. 7, when a resident reported his adult son threatened him with a knife, which he took away from the suspect, who then grabbed a hammer and chased him out of the house. Officers arrived to find the suspect still holding the hammer and arrested him for felony domestic violence due to a conviction for that crime in 2006.
A Mayfair Road resident reported Sept. 7 a male who had been banned from the apartment complex and property was at the residence. Deputies found the suspect in a bedroom, and he struggled with an officer and escaped out a window. Officers searched the area and later located him on the roof of a building. He was arrested for criminal trespassing, criminal damaging and resisting arrest, and taken to the Summit County Jail.
On Sept. 8 deputies charged a man with theft and released him with a court summons after a cab driver reported he drove the suspect from Canton to a Mayfair Road address and he refused to pay a $26 fare.
Suspects attempted to gain access to a drive-through beverage center on South Main Street Sept. 9 by crashing a vehicle into an overhead garage door.
An Akron man who had been banned from a Mayfair Road apartment complex was arrested for trespassing at the complex Sept. 9 and additionally charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
A quick-change artist scammed a cashier at a Massillon Road restaurant out of $100 Sept. 10.

LAKEMORE: An MP3 player, headphones, cell phone, purse and $10 were stolen from a Mohawk Trail student’s locker at a Sanitarium Road school Sept. 3.
Police charged a Mount View Avenue student with criminal damaging after he reportedly removed a thermostat from a high school cafeteria wall and threw it at another student Sept. 4.
On Sept. 5, an Abington Road man was charged with theft after allegedly stealing $6 worth of cough medicine from a Canton Road grocery store.
Police are investigating a report of sexual imposition filed Sept. 8 by a 17-year-old girl against an Onondago Avenue man.
A Fourth Street female was charged with unruliness after an alleged attempt to steal from a Canton Road store Sept. 9.
A remote control radio system was stolen from a Chattford Court resident’s car Sept. 9.
A car parked on Oxford Circle was entered Sept. 10 and a gym bag, tennis shoes and two credit cards were stolen. The suspect also used the credit cards to make $457 in unauthorized purchases.
A car parked at a high school parking lot was entered Sept. 11 and a wallet with a driver’s license, as well as the vehicle registration, an insurance card, car stereo and global positioning system were stolen, and the side mirror was broken off.

NEW FRANKLIN: Police are investigating a Sept. 9 attempted burglary at a Manchester Road business. Police heard the alarm sounding from the business and saw a broken window and found an unknown number of cigarette packages had been stolen.
A West Nimisila Road man reported $11,400 worth of jewelry, including diamond rings and wedding bands, was taken from his residence Sept. 10. Police found no sign of forced entry.
Police were dispatched to a Main Street residence Sept. 14 after a man reportedly said he was going to “blow his brains out and take a bunch of pills.” He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

SPRINGFIELD: A Howard Avenue man reported someone set his truck’s dashboard on fire Sept. 1.
Police were called to a South Arlington Road breakfast restaurant Sept. 3 after a Green man began yelling at customers while carrying an open bottle of vodka. The Main Street man was charged with disorderly conduct and having an open container and released to Jackson police officers on an active warrant.
A car parked on Abington Road was entered Sept. 4 and a fishing pole, $20 in cash, a bicycle and a tackle box were stolen.
Someone knocked over a Crestline Drive mailbox Sept. 6.
Four people were charged with theft after allegedly stealing from a South Arlington Road store between Sept. 7 and 13, including: a Willard Avenue woman for taking $36 in creams; a Brown Street man for taking $5 medicine; a Cleveland Avenue N.W. woman for taking $43 in food and clothing; and a Wadsworth man for taking a 22-inch TV, and who also was charged with robbery by force, assault and possession of criminal tools after reportedly biting a security guard on the hand when the guard tried to apprehend him and for carrying a razor blade he used to cut open product boxes.
Police on patrol discovered a trash receptacle on East Waterloo Road on fire Sept. 7.
A Meadow Spring Circle woman was charged with theft Sept. 7 after she allegedly refused to return a cell phone belonging to her Robindale Avenue father-in-law.
Police are investigating a report of menacing filed by a Junior Avenue female against an East Waterloo Road female Sept. 7.
An Ewart Road resident reported finding holes in the siding on his garage Sept. 7.
A Sanitarium Road man reported someone killed his cat and placed it in his yard Sept. 7.
One hundred pounds of empty beer cans stored behind a Carper Avenue garage were reported stolen Sept. 8.
Two Utica Avenue males were caught trespassing on a vacant Margaret Avenue lot and setting off fireworks, and were transported back home to their parents by police Sept. 8.
Police are investigating a report of an attempted abduction Sept. 8. An 11-year-old Crestline Avenue female reported she was walking down Delaware Avenue between 6 and 7:30 p.m. when a man with a lazy eye in a tan minivan came alongside and told her not to run or scream and to get in the van. The girl ran off.
A car stereo was stolen from a vehicle parked on Hayne Road Sept. 9.
The front window of an empty building on Killian Road was shot out Sept. 9.
A Stow man visiting his Proctor Road girlfriend reported she threw an electric meter at the windshield of his car during an argument Sept. 9.
A Just Street S.W. woman was charged with assault after allegedly kicking a Greenland Avenue man in the groin when he turned to walk away from her during an argument involving several parents and children on a playground Sept. 9.
A Myersville Road resident reported a back door was pried open Sept. 10 and $200 in coins stored in a jar in the kitchen and $500 in collectible bills and coins hidden under a bed were stolen Sept. 10.
A Coach Lane resident reported $80 in change in a jug was stolen Sept. 10.
A Snoderly Drive resident reported a license plate was stolen from his vehicle Sept. 10.
A Honeymoon Drive man who was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped on Kubler Trail Sept. 11 was arrested on an active warrant from the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.
A Sypher Road man was arrested Sept. 13 on a Sheriff’s Office active warrant for failure to pay child support.
An East Waterloo Road woman reported Sept. 13 she left her diaper bag in an East Waterloo Road store, and when she returned to retrieve it, her wallet containing her Social Security number and a bankcard had been stolen.
An estimated $3,000 worth of vintage car parts was stolen from a Massillon Road storage trailer that was broken into Sept. 13.
