COVENTRY: On Oct. 17, employees of a Greenhill Road group home called deputies when two male residents were involved in a fight. All parties declined prosecution, and the facility manager said one suspect, who had sustained a minor injury, would be transported for medical attention by employees.

A Rook Drive man reported an intoxicated male was creating a disturbance and yelling in front of his home Oct. 21. Deputies arrested the suspect for disorderly conduct by intoxication and took him to a detoxification center.

Employees of a Portage Lakes Drive bar called deputies the evening of Oct. 24, when an intoxicated customer was throwing popcorn at patrons and challenging employees to fight. The suspect refused to cooperate with deputies, and he was charged with disorderly conduct and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Also Oct. 24, a woman reported she locked her purse in a vehicle outside a Portage Lakes Drive apartment complex between 1 and 6 p.m., and it was stolen. Two bottles of prescription medication, identification and a food gift card were missing. She said several people had access to the vehicle.

A Fruit Drive resident reported Oct. 26 that suspects stole a debit card and driver’s license and used them to withdraw more than $1,300 from a checking account.

Deputies investigated the burglary of a residential facility on Portage Lakes Drive Oct. 26, when suspects kicked open a door and spread powder throughout the interior. Nothing was reported missing.

Suspects stole front and back license plates from a vehicle parked at a service station on State Street Oct. 26.

Also Oct. 26, deputies investigated a report of attempted abduction in the parking lot of a Swartz Road business. A woman reported she was walking through the lot when a white van pulled up beside her and the driver opened the door and ordered her into the vehicle. A witness nearby yelled at the man and approached the vehicle, and the suspect sped away. He is described as a white male in his late 50s who was wearing a beige jacket.

Suspects stole rhododendrons from the yard of a Vaughn Trail residence Oct. 27.

A $531 flute was stolen from the band room of Coventry Junior High School Oct. 27.

A West Olden Avenue resident reported he came home Oct. 29 to find the back door of his residence had been broken and was open. A handgun, digital camera, stereo speakers and video games were missing.

GREEN: Suspects stole a $235 BMX bike from a yard on Graybill Road Oct. 18.

A Troon Drive resident reported Oct. 22 that suspects threw a rock that broke the front  window of the residence around 4 p.m.

On Oct. 23, an East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man called deputies to report that a woman who had been told by deputies to stay away from his property had returned. The Ravenna woman was arrested for criminal trespassing and released with a court summons.

Employees of a Massillon Road gas station reported Oct. 23 that a man stole $2 from the counter and left in a vehicle. Deputies located the suspect and conducted a traffic stop. The suspect fled from the vehicle and was apprehended after a short foot pursuit. He was charged with receiving stolen property after deputies determined the vehicle had been stolen and additionally charged with theft, obstruction of official business. He also was held on a warrant for burglary and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Deputies arrested five people for underage drinking Oct. 24 and charged one adult with allowing them to drink on his property. Two of the five were additionally charged with trespassing and criminal damaging after they drove vehicles on property on Mayfair Road, causing damage.

A driver who was stopped for a vehicle equipment violation on South Arlington Road Oct. 24 was charged with DUI and driving under suspension. The vehicle owner was charged with wrongful entrustment for allowing the suspect to drive the vehicle while his license was suspended, and taken to the Summit County Jail on a warrant for nonsupport.

The next day, deputies were called to a South Arlington Road residence, where a woman reported a male at the residence was told to leave but refused. After he left, he returned and reportedly broke a window to enter the residence. The victim hid in a closet when the suspect announced he had a gun. Deputies located the suspect inside the residence and ordered him to show his hands and get on the floor. He refused and was arrested for aggravated burglary, resisting arrest and obstruction of official business and taken to the Summit County Jail.

Deputies patrolling East Turkeyfoot Lake Road Oct. 25 stopped a drive of a vehicle with an equipment violation and noticed a smell of marijuana. The driver, who admitted smoking marijuana while she was driving, was arrested for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and released with a court summons.

A South American woman reported suspects stole jewelry worth more than $1,150 from her carry-on luggage during a flight from Atlanta to Akron-Canton Airport Oct. 26.

The owner of a Greensburg Road business reported Oct. 26 that suspects cut a lock to gain entry to a fenced area and stole a $5,000 trailer.

Suspects stole a global positioning system, iPod and stereo equipment from a vehicle parked outside a Greenfield Drive residence Oct. 26.

Firefighters and deputies responded to a vehicle fire at a Christman Road location Oct. 26. Deputies determined the vehicle had been stolen from a Jackson Township woman who was unaware it had been taken. Jackson police responded to make a report. 

On Oct. 28, suspects used a landscaping rock to break the window of a vehicle outside a Dornoch Drive residence and steal a medical bag and its contents.

LAKEMORE: Police arrested a 15-year-old Akron female as a runaway at a Sanitarium Road home Oct. 22. The girl was wanted on charges out of the Akron Police Department.

A 15-year-old Mohawk Trail female was arrested on charges of underage consumption of cigarettes at Springfield High School Oct. 23.

A Safer Plaza woman was charged with theft after she allegedly stole $236 worth of clothing from a Canton Road department store Oct. 23.

On Oct. 24, a Castleton Court female was charged with disorderly conduct after police were called in about a domestic dispute at the home.

A Front Street resident reported Oct. 27 someone tried to enter her home but ran off when the suspect realized the door was locked.

Police charged an Ambassador Drive man who was described as “mentally challenged” with public indecency Oct. 27 when he was found standing naked next to a Lake Road store.

NEW FRANKLIN: A Peachwood Avenue man reported Oct. 26 that while he was at a West Turkeyfoot Lake Road location, his vehicle window was broken and his global positioning system and satellite radio, with a total value of $400, were stolen.

A North Bender Avenue woman was arrested for criminal trespass on Manchester Road Oct. 28. She reportedly visited a residence but was told she was not welcome.

Three people were arrested for defrauding a livery or hostelry Oct. 29 on Manchester Road. An Akron taxi service reported the three hired a taxi to drive to a Manchester Road residence and then said they had no money. Police arrested a Manchester Road man and two Akron women. One of the Akron women also had an active warrant out of Barberton Police Department, and another woman complained of chest pains and was transported to a local hospital.

A Dailey Road man reported his $500 TV was stolen from his residence Oct. 30.

SPRINGFIELD: A Greenhill Drive man was charged with theft Oct. 19 after allegedly putting on a $68 pair of shoes and walking out of a South Arlington Road store without paying for them.

A 17-year-old male reported a 67-year-old Moore Road man offered him money for sex while he was standing on the street Oct. 20. A police legal adviser declined to file charges against the man.

The soft top of a car owned by a Coach Lane man was cut Oct. 21.

Police charged an Abington Road man with disorderly conduct after he was found walking down the middle of the street Oct. 21 while intoxicated.

Six people were charged with theft for allegedly stealing from a South Arlington Road store Oct. 21-30, including: a Joyce Avenue female for taking a $6 necklace; an Archwood Avenue man for taking $130 in shoes, a radio, battery and scissors from that store and also for taking $217 in shoes, socks and a hoodie from a department store down the street the same day; a Propsect Avenue female for taking $8 in cosmetics; a College Street man for taking a flashlight and sewing kit worth a total of $2; a Toby Terrace female for taking $21 in items; a Cole Avenue man for taking $3 earrings; and a Neville Avenue woman for taking a DVD player and DVDs and a remote control with a total value of $304.

Police responded to a report of “sexting” received by a 14-year-old Chevelle Drive male Oct. 22. The youth reported he got two obscene pictures on his cell phone. The man who owned the phone that they were sent from denied sending the pictures and refused to identify himself to police.

A Canton Road woman reported her TV was stolen after someone forced their way into the home through a back door Oct. 22.

Police are investigating an assault on a Columbine Avenue man Oct. 22. The man reported three suspects came to the door to ask for money that was owed to them. One suspect punched him in the mouth, and he grabbed a bat and struck another suspect and then managed to close and lock the door and call police. All of the suspects fled.

A Howard Avenue mailbox was damaged Oct. 23.

A Wilson Road male was charged with unruliness for allegedly disobeying house rules, cursing and leaving the house without permission Oct. 23.

A Laverne Lane woman reported her 52-inch flat-screen TV and prescription medicine were stolen Oct. 24.

Also on that day, a trailer with red wooden sides was stolen from a Taylor Avenue home.

The next day, unknown suspects entered a Gowanda Avenue home through an unlocked door and stole a flat-screen TV, video game system and games, and a CD player for a car.

A rock was thrown through the front window of a Linwood Drive home Oct. 26, breaking it.

A Brunk Road window also was damaged the same day after someone used a pellet gun to shoot through a picture window.

Police charged an Old Home Road man with open burning Oct. 27 after finding him standing by a burning couch that he had allegedly set on fire using gasoline.

A Ken Drive man told police Oct. 27 he believes a Brown Street man who comes to the house daily to pick up a company car stole $15,000 in cash he had hidden in a plastic container under some towels in a bedroom closet.

On Oct. 29, police arrested an Ewart Road woman wanted by the Akron Police Department for failure to appear on charges of criminal damage.
