AKRON: A 26 year-old Roscoe Drive man has been charged with felonious assault stemming from an incident that occurred Aug. 6 at a White Pond Drive eatery. He was extradited from the Franklin County Jail.
Burglaries were reported at the following locations: the 800 block of Glenn Street between Oct. 15 and Nov. 13; the 1600 block of Wiltshire Road between Oct. 30 and Nov. 7; the 400 block of North Hawkins Avenue Nov. 1-6; the 1100 block of Nome Avenue Nov. 5; the 500 block of Avalon Avenue Nov. 6-9; the 700 block of Noah Avenue Nov. 9; the 1000 block of Roslyn Avenue Nov. 9; the 500 block of Vinita Avenue Nov. 9, in which two juvenile males were arrested; the 1900 block of Auten Drive Nov. 9-10; the 500 block of Crosby Street Nov. 10; the 800 block of Frederick Boulevard Nov. 10; a Vernon Odom Boulevard car dealership Nov. 10-11; the 900 block of Winton Avenue Nov. 11; the 1100 block of Hardesty Boulevard Nov. 11-12; the 1600 block of Karg Drive Nov. 12; the 1000 block of Frederick Boulevard Nov. 13; and the 200 block of South Portage Path Nov. 15.
A 49-year-old Orlando Avenue man was charged with felony robbery Nov. 3 after entering a Copley Road eatery and, when the employee opened the cash drawer, grabbing her hand and money from the register.
A 41-year-old Sharon Street woman was arrested for soliciting Nov. 7 around 1 a.m. at West Market and Bittman streets after allegedly soliciting an undercover officer for money in exchange for a sex act.
A 26-year-old Canton man was charged with felony theft. He was arrested Nov. 10 for allegedly stealing prescription medication while working as a pharmacy tech at a Copley Road drugstore.
A 32-year-old Fernwood Drive woman was charged with deception to obtain a dangerous drug and illegal processing of drug documents Nov. 11. She allegedly went into an East Market Street pharmacy with a forged prescription and tried to obtain Tussionex. She was stopped in the parking lot by officers and arrested.
A Treetop Trail woman reported she was raped by an acquaintance Nov. 12.
A business in the 1600 block of West Market Street was robbed Nov. 13 around 2:30 p.m. The suspect, a black male 18-25 years old, 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighing 140 pounds, entered the store wearing a white T-shirt, green sweatshirt, baggy black pants, black shoes and an orange ski mask and, armed with a handgun, demanded money. He then fled across a parking lot.
A juvenile male was arrested for theft after allegedly taking an $80 pair of athletic shoes from a West Market Street discount store.
A 25-year-old Hawkins Avenue man was charged with carrying a concealed weapon, having weapons under disability, possession of drugs and paraphernalia, trafficking in drugs and child endangering. He was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation and was observed by officers throwing objects out the window. A bag of crack was found by his side of the vehicle on the ground, and a gun also was found. He also was found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia and ammunition.
BATH: A driver involved in a vehicle crash on Crystal Lake Road Nov. 8 was charged with possession of a marijuana cigarette that rolled out of the vehicle as it was being towed from the scene.
Police stopped a driver for a traffic violation on Heritage Woods Drive Nov. 8. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI. His BAC tested 0.176.
A Bath Road man reported Nov. 9 he received three fraudulent money orders from a company that hired him to be a mystery shopper.
The driver of a vehicle that struck a curb on Medina Road Nov. 10 failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI. Her BAC tested 0.196.
Police were called to a Rock Creek Road residence Nov. 12 and charged a juvenile with possession of drug paraphernalia and theft of money from the home. Officers were called back Nov. 14, when they arrested him for domestic violence for reportedly assaulting his mother and took him to a juvenile detention center.
Detectives are investigating the burglary of a Yellow Creek Road residence where a woman reported she came home Nov. 12 to find the front door open and her flat-screen TV and computer had been stolen. Suspects entered through a basement window.
An employee of a Springside Drive vision care center reported Nov. 12 a male and female entered the store and the female distracted her while the male stole eyeglasses worth $1,618 from the store.
A woman reported she left her purse unattended for 10 minutes in the waiting room of a Medina Road clinic Nov. 12 and returned to find some items had been stolen.
On Nov. 12, police investigated reports by physicians at an Embassy Parkway office stating a female called the office several times claiming to be a patient of one physician and asking for narcotic pain medication from another doctor in the physician’s absence. She then called and claimed to be the patient of another physician and asked for medication from a different physician. She succeeded in getting a prescription for pain medication on two occasions. One of the physicians investigated her prescription history and determined she had received 70 prescriptions for narcotics from various physicians and clinics within the past year.
A woman at a North Cleveland-Massillon Road gas station found a bag of unknown white powder in the parking lot Nov. 13 and gave it to police.
The driver of a pickup truck was stopped on Yellow Creek Road Nov. 13 and arrested for driving under suspension and released with a court summons after the vehicle was towed.
Employees of a Montrose pet store reported Nov. 14 that two females stole a small, white Maltese dog. One woman, described as small with gray hair, reportedly distracted a manager, while the other, described as heavy-set with red hair, concealed the dog under a heavy coat. They fled the store with the dog and jumped a fence behind a nearby grocery store. Both females got away.
COPLEY: School officials called police to Copley High School Nov. 6 when a student reportedly took small amounts of three different prescription medications to school and gave them to three classmates. All four students were charged with drug abuse, and police confiscated the medication.
Police on Copley Road Nov. 7 stopped a driver for lane violations. He passed a field sobriety test and was charged with driving under suspension. The vehicle was towed and he was released with a court summons.
An Akron woman reported she left her vehicle outside the Glenhaven Avenue residence of a relative Nov. 7 and went inside for a few minutes. When she returned, she found an unknown male in the driver’s seat. When she confronted him, he ran, taking with him a $100 digital camera.
On Nov. 7, police were called to disperse a group of people having a loud party in a Montrose West Avenue hotel room. Most of the suspects fled before police arrived, and officers arrested a woman in the room and two people who were arguing loudly outside a nearby restaurant. All three were charged with underage drinking, and the woman was additionally charged with disorderly conduct and resisting arrest when she reportedly refused to cooperate with police and cursed at them.
Police assisted officers from the U.S. Marshals Violent Fugitive Task Force Nov. 9 when they arrested a Hamlin Street woman on a misdemeanor bench warrant at her home, and took her to Barberton Municipal Court.
An Arrowhead Trail woman reported her ex-boyfriend was on the way to her home Nov. 9 after she told him he was not welcome there. When the suspect arrived, police advised him not to contact the woman and said he would be arrested if he showed up at the residence again.
A driver stopped for speeding on state Route 21 Nov. 10 was arrested for driving under suspension. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
A Copley Road man reported Nov. 10 his son was on heroin and was attempting to take his car. The suspect ran out the back door when police arrived and into a wooded area. Officers were unable to locate him.
Officers are seeking two males in a red pickup truck after a Schocalog Road man reported they stole a load of scrap metal from a truck on his property Nov. 10.
A Sugar Road resident reported Nov. 10 her lawn and mailbox were damaged by a vehicle. A witness reported seeing two people in a vehicle that went off the road and struck the mailbox. The driver failed to stop at the scene.
On Nov. 10, a Richfield woman reported suspects found her credit card in Montrose and used it to make unauthorized purchases at department and sporting goods stores.
Police responded to a traffic crash on Minor Road Nov. 11 and found a vehicle in a ditch and observed the driver stumbling outside the vehicle. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI and transported to Akron General Medical Center for treatment of injuries. His BAC tested 0.2.
A customer drove away from a Brookmont Drive restaurant Nov. 11 without paying his tab.
Detectives are investigating the burglary of a Hametown Road residence Nov. 12, when the victim came home to find a basement window broken and a $1,450 flat-screen TV missing.
FAIRLAWN: Suspects stole four hubcaps from a Toyota parked outside a mall automotive store Nov. 5.
Police patrolling West Market Street at 5 a.m. Nov. 6 observed glass broken out of the doors of a mall tobacco shop and checked the area for suspects. A manager reported money had been stolen from the store.
An employee of a West Market Street retail store reported Nov. 6 that $150 was stolen from her purse while she worked.
On Nov. 6, a customer at a home goods store on West Market Street reported her purse was stolen from a shopping cart while she shopped. An employee reported seeing a female standing beside a purse that was on a bottom shelf of a display, then finding the purse in the same place later. The victim was still in the store and she was notified her purse had been located. She discovered two wallets containing $600, credit cards and identification had been stolen from it. Police are reviewing surveillance video footage.
A man who reportedly cut into a waiting line at a West Market Street restaurant Nov. 7 started a verbal altercation that ended in a brawl involving several people, who were rolling around on the floor when a security officer began escorting people out of the business. The officer reported the accused line-jumper reached across him, as he was being escorted from the business, and punched another man in the face. Police arrived and arrested the suspect for assault. He was released with a court summons.
A customer service employee at a Montrose discount store was arrested for theft Nov. 9 for allegedly taking money from a wallet found in the store and taken to the customer service desk for safe keeping. When the owner of the wallet came to retrieve it and discovered money missing from it, police reviewed video surveillance footage that showed the suspect take the wallet into a restroom. She admitted removing $65 from the wallet and returning it to a shelf.
Four wheel covers, worth $308, were stolen from a Toyota parked in a mall lot Nov. 10.
A Copley man arrested for shoplifting a $50 tie from a department store Nov. 10 was released with a court summons and banned from the store.
On Nov. 10, police on West Market Street stopped a driver for a traffic violation and arrested him for violation of a protection order after they determined a woman in the vehicle held a court order prohibiting him from contact with her.
The manager of a mall restaurant reported Nov. 12 a $66 bank deposit was stolen from an area accessible to employees only.
Police are seeking two males who stole perfume worth more than $2,130 from a West Market Street lingerie store display. One male distracted a manager while the other took the merchandise.
NORTON: On Nov. 8, police arrested a man for criminal trespassing after he was observed hunting on property owned by a Summit Road landfill.
Police on Interstate 76 Nov. 8 stopped a driver for lane violations and noticed an odor of alcohol. He failed a field sobriety test when he was unable to remain steady on his feet, and he was charged with DUI and possession of a bag of marijuana and released on a cash bond. His BAC tested 0.183.
A man reported he was walking his dog on Greenbrier Road Nov. 9, when two German shepherds ran from a house on Holiday Drive and bit his dog several times. Police charged the owner with having dogs at large.
A driver stopped for speeding on I-76 Nov. 9 admitted he drank five or six beers over the past hour and failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. His BAC tested 0.099.
During the investigation of a hit-skip traffic crash on I-76 Nov. 10, police went to the home of a Driftwood Drive man, where they found pieces of another vehicle’s tail lights on his vehicle and damage to the vehicle consistent with damage described in an accident report. He refused to sign a summons for leaving the scene of an accident or accept a court date. He was arrested and taken to the police station, and the vehicle was impounded as evidence.
Police responded to a report that a male and female were regularly purchasing chemicals typically used in the manufacture of methamphetamine Nov. 11. Officers located the suspects’ vehicle and stopped the driver on South Cleveland-Massillon Road. The two admitted smoking marijuana, and police located marijuana and drug paraphernalia in the vehicle with the help of a K-9 officer. The male was released to Wadsworth police on drug-related warrants, and the female was additionally charged with driving under suspension.
An Oak Street woman reported Nov. 13 that a silver tableware set worth $3,000 was stolen from her residence.
The manager of a Wadsworth Road lumber business reported theft of lumber worth more than $353 Nov. 13.
Employees of an Eastern Road gas station called police the night of Nov. 15 when a female entered the station and reported she had been assaulted at a house across the street and she wanted to return to get her belongings. Officers determined she was a runaway from Painesville and called her family, who agreed to come to the police station and take her home.
RICHFIELD: Following an investigation into theft of alcohol from a Broadview Road grocery store, detectives identified suspects Oct. 31 and issued warrants for felony theft Nov. 2 against one male and one female suspected of stealing liquor from numerous stores and taking liquor totaling more than $900 from the Broadview Road store on two occasions. Following the theft reports in October, police learned of similar thefts in Avon and the arrest of three people. The suspects were among those arrested, and officers were able to identify them on surveillance video footage at the Richfield store. Following the arrest in Avon, police found a ledger containing the names of stores from which the suspects stole liquor, and the Broadview Road store was on the list.
Officers patrolling Interstate 77 Nov. 2 conducted a registration check on a vehicle and arrested the driver for driving under suspension. He was released on $225 bond.
Officers stopped a driver on Broadview Road Nov. 5 and arrested him for driving under suspension and released him on a cash bond.
A North Royalton man went to the police station Nov. 6 with a court order that required police to remove an immobilization device from his vehicle immediately. Police went to his residence and removed the device. The complainant was charged with DUI in Richfield in July.
