WEST AKRON: Burglaries occurred at the following locations: the 1000 block of Mercer Avenue between Dec. 20 and Jan. 7; the first block of Ambrose Court between Dec. 24 and Jan. 2; the 2100 block of Thurmont Road between Dec. 28 and Jan. 9; the 200 block of Center Street Jan. 1; the 900 block of Mercer Avenue Jan. 4-5; the 400 block of West Exchange Street Jan. 4-5; the 800 block of Work Drive Jan. 5-6; the 1000 block of Copley Road Jan. 6; a business in the 800 block of Mull Avenue Jan. 6-7; and the 200 block of Crosby Street Jan. 8.

A 37-year-old Copley woman was charged with felonious assault and criminal damage Dec. 30 after allegedly driving her vehicle into another vehicle and then pushing that vehicle into another person’s house, ending up in the living room, in the 2400 block of Amesbury Road.

On Jan. 4 around 2:15 a.m., a 30-year-old Lover’s Lane man allegedly broke into a house in the 600 block of Fernwood Drive, assaulted two residents — a male and a female — then prevented the woman from calling police and ran next door. He was apprehended and arrested for assault and felonious assault, aggravated burglary, disrupting public service, criminal damaging and obstructing official business.

A 23-year-old Rhodes Avenue man was arrested Jan. 6 at his residence in connection with a burglary that took place Jan. 5 in the 300 block of Merriman Road. The suspect was charged with tampering with evidence, receiving stolen property, burglary and robbery and booked into the Summit County Jail. Allegedly, the man broke out a pane of glass on the back door and entered the home where a female was housesitting. As the female tried to call police, the suspect came into the house and grabbed the cell phone from her hand, then demanded money, jewelry and the victim’s car keys. The suspect then ordered the female victim to go to an upstairs bedroom while he searched the house. He fled with several TVs, jewelry, cell phones, about $200 in cash and the victim’s car, a 2003 silver Toyota Echo. The vehicle has been recovered, as well as some of the stolen property.

A juvenile male was arrested Jan. 6 around 7:30 p.m. for allegedly selling drugs in front of a business in the 900 block of Copley Road. The boy reportedly had been warned about loitering by the business owner. He was arrested for criminal trespassing, trafficking in drugs and offenses involving counterfeit controlled substances.

The Akron Police Department and U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force are asking for assistance from the public for information that could lead to the arrest of Trinny Henderson Sr. Henderson is wanted for participating in a criminal gang, having weapons under disability, aggravated menacing, child endangering, criminal damaging and domestic violence menacing in connection with an argument at his girlfriend’s apartment that resulted in Henderson firing several shots into the television set in the living room where two children were present. Henderson fled before police arrived, and no injuries were reported. Henderson has a last known address on Mercer Avenue. He is a medium complexioned, 24-year-old black male, 5 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing 130 pounds. A reward is being offered by the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force for information directly related to his arrest. Anyone knowing his whereabouts may call the Akron Police Department at (330) 375-2490, the U.S. Marshals Service at (866) 4-WANTED or Summit County Crimestoppers Inc. at (330) 434-COPS. Callers can remain anonymous.

Akron Police officers and members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force arrested a 24-year-old Wildwood Avenue man at his residence around 11 a.m. Jan. 11. When ordered to show his hands, which were in his pockets, the suspect reportedly pulled out a handgun, at which time he was tasered and taken into custody. Wanted in connection with the robbery of a Barberton business, the man was charged with aggravated robbery, having weapons under disability and being a fugitive in possession of a weapon and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A 38-year-old Beck Avenue man was located shortly after a bank robbery in the 600 block of West Market Street Jan. 11, charged with aggravated robbery and booked into the Summit County Jail.

A 40-year-old Wesley Place man was charged with felony aggravated burglary and domestic violence Jan. 12. He allegedly kicked in the door at a Pickford Avenue location and assaulted the victim.

BATH: A driver stopped for making an illegal left turn at the intersection of Granger and Wye roads Jan. 3 failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI. His BAC tested .14.

Police responded to calls from motorists on Ira and Revere roads Jan. 3 regarding an erratic driver. Officers observed the driver swerve across lane lines and stopped him at a North Cleveland-Massillon Road gas station. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI. His BAC tested .117. The vehicle was released to the owner.

Officials at Revere High School called police Jan. 4 after two students became involved in a fight. Officers spoke to the parents and the suspects, whose ongoing dispute has been the subject of past police reports. The two were advised to have no contact with each other, and they agreed to comply.

Officers patrolling Bath Hills Boulevard and Smith Road Jan. 5 observed a driver commit lane violations and attempted to stop him. The driver continued for several miles before stopping and told officers he was unaware of the lights and sirens. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI.

An employee of a North Cleveland-Massillon Road residential facility reported Jan. 5 her former fiancé and his wife have been making harassing phone calls to her. Police advised the two to have no contact with the victim, and they agreed to comply.

Firefighters and police responded to a vehicle fire on Ghent Road Jan. 6. Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and police arranged for the vehicle to be towed from the scene.

A Banning Road man reported Jan. 6 his son took 12 Xanax tablets from his prescription vial. The youth was disciplined at his school, and police advised the juvenile division.

A township resident went to the police station to complain that a neighbor trespassed Jan. 6 to photograph a deer feeder and hunting blind on his property. The man told police he did not trespass to take the photographs. Police advised him not to be on private property without the owner’s permission.

Police investigated a one-vehicle accident on Ira Road Jan. 7, when they observed a damaged vehicle by the side of the road and located the 18-year-old driver. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI. His BAC tested .102.

COPLEY: On Dec. 27, police entered information about a 2001 Mercury Cougar into a national database for stolen vehicles after the owner reported a mechanic picked up the vehicle to repair it, took it to his home in Akron and failed to return it after she paid him money for parts. Police were unable to locate the mechanic or the vehicle.

A Copley Road man reported he left his apartment for five minutes to visit a neighbor Dec. 29 and returned to find a $350 video game and controllers were missing from his bedroom.

A Copley Road woman reported Dec. 30 a co-worker at a Montrose discount store has been harassing her for several weeks by placing notes and writing messages on her vehicle while it is parked in the garage at her residence. Officers referred her to the detective bureau for assistance in getting a protection order.

Police were called to a Montrose West Avenue restaurant the evening of Dec. 31, when two females were involved in a physical confrontation. According to witnesses, the two exchanged words and one female struck the other, initiating the battle. The suspect who began the fight agreed to pay for a window blind that was damaged, and no charges were filed.

Officers patrolling Rothrock Road around 3:40 a.m. Jan. 1 stopped the driver of a vehicle with no headlights and arrested him for possession of marijuana, which they saw in plain view on the suspect’s clothing and in the vehicle. He admitted he was rolling a marijuana blunt while driving.

On Jan. 1, police broke into a Pebble Creek Drive residence to assist a woman who had fallen in the home. She reported she was mentally and physically fine, and there was minimal damage to the door, which had been locked with a deadbolt.

A Colon Drive man called police Jan. 1 to report that a male called to say he was on the way to the residence to harm a woman. Police located the suspect outside the residence, arrested him for driving under suspension and released him to Wadsworth police on a warrant for possession of drugs.

Police arrested a juvenile for domestic violence Jan. 3 after she reportedly threw a phone at her mother and broke items at the victim’s residence on Knox Boulevard. The suspect had been convicted of domestic violence previously, which made the charge a felony. She was taken to a juvenile detention facility.

A Collier Road woman left her home and ran to a Copley Road beverage center to call police Jan. 4, when she reported her ex-boyfriend was at her home. She said the suspect took her cell phones in a jealous rage to get phone numbers of males she might have called, and she feared he would harm her. Officers found the suspect walking along Collier Road and recovered the cell phones, which had been discarded on the road. The suspect returned the phones to the victim, who declined charges.

FAIRLAWN: Police investigated the burglary of an office on North Miller Road Jan. 4, when an employee of an office arrived at work to find a door to an office had been pried open. Several offices had been ransacked, and a lock box containing cash was stolen, along with money from an employee break room.

A woman was arrested for reportedly shoplifting items by concealing the merchandise, worth $105, in her purse at a West Market Street grocery store Jan. 4. She was banned from the store indefinitely and released with a court summons.

Officers patrolling Chamberlain Road Jan. 4 arrested a passenger in a disabled vehicle for underage drinking and public intoxication.

On Jan. 6, a woman reported she placed her purse on a display shelf while shopping in a mall children’s store, and her wallet was stolen.

Detectives are investigating a Jan. 6 report filed by a Wadsworth woman who said she was the victim of a “mystery shopper” scam. The victim said she received an invitation to be a secret shopper after she completed a survey regarding working at home. Suspects from an alleged health care system mailed her a check for $3,772, with instructions to deposit the check in her checking account and wire $3,000 to a suspect in Canada. She completed the transaction at her bank in Fairlawn. Several days after she wired the money the bank notified her the check was fraudulent.

A man who had been permanently banned from a West Market Street grocery store in 2005 was arrested for criminal trespassing and theft Jan. 6 after he allegedly concealed food items worth $55 in a bag and left the store without paying for them.

A man was arrested for theft Jan. 7 and banned from a mall department store after loss prevention agents reported he wore several clothing items out of the store without paying for them. Police recovered the merchandise from under the suspect’s clothing.

NORTON: A Greenwich Road woman reported Jan. 2 an unknown male damaged the handle of her garage door when he attempted to open it. He entered the garage through a side door and then left in a vehicle. Nothing was reported missing.

A woman at a Wooster Road bar reported Jan. 3 she observed a male damage the hood of her vehicle and tear off the mirror, then leave in a vehicle driven by another suspect. She said she met the men at a Barberton bar and they followed her to the Norton bar. When she ignored them, one man damaged the vehicle.

An Easton Road man gave police a used hypodermic needle he found in his stepdaughter’s room Jan. 4, along with an empty vial of medication prescribed to someone other than her. Officers confiscated the items and notified Summit County Children Services regarding the safety of the suspect’s children in the home.

A McCoy Road woman reported Jan. 6 suspects entered her home and stole $6,100 from a hiding place. The victim said she originally placed the money in a heating vent, and when she checked it a week ago, she determined $2,000 had been stolen, so she hid it in a different place.

On Jan. 7, officers arrested a Loyal Oak Drive man for domestic violence after he reportedly slapped his live-in girlfriend in the face, threatened to kill her and threw clothing at her son. The suspect was taken to the Summit County Jail.

Police investigated the burglary of a South Cleveland-Massillon Road insurance office Jan. 7, when an employee reported he arrived to find the office had been entered and cash was missing. There was no sign of forced entry into the building.

An Eastern Road woman reported Jan. 7 she is being harassed by a female who has made threats in messages on her social Web site page, saying the victim made a derogatory comment about her child at their church.

Just after midnight Jan. 12, Wadsworth police issued a bulletin regarding suspects who fled in a vehicle following a shooting in the parking lot of a retail store. Norton officers apprehended the three suspects at an Eastern Road gas station. Two males were charged with felonious assault, and a female was charged with obstructing justice. The victim, whose injuries were reportedly not life threatening, was transported to Akron City Hospital.

RICHFIELD: The manager of a Brecksville Road travel center reported Dec. 26 a male entered the store, purchased an energy drink and received change for a $50 bill. The suspect asked for change for the bills several times, and when he left the cashier determined the store had been shortchanged.

Police responded to a two-vehicle accident on Broadview Road Dec. 27, when a male reportedly drove a vehicle across the center line and crashed into an oncoming vehicle driven by a female. The male sustained head injuries and was transported to Akron General Medical Center, where blood drawn and tested indicated a BAC of .225. On Dec. 29, he was charged with DUI.

Suspects stole a heater and two propane tanks from the back patio of a charitable collection center on Wheatley Road Dec. 27.

A Medina woman called police Dec. 28 to report her fiancé left home in a snowstorm to drive to his office in Warren and called her from a rest area on Interstate 271 to say he was very ill. He had recently received a cancer treatment. Police were unable to locate him at the rest stop and accessed the victim’s vehicle’s global positioning system to find him in a Streetsboro motel, where he was incoherent but alive. He was rushed to a local hospital, and police notified his fiancée. 

An Everett Road woman reported Dec. 30 she discovered wires to her stereo system had been damaged, and she suspected her ex-husband might be involved. She said she holds a restraining order against him, but has been allowing him to visit. Police advised her not to violate the court order by allowing him to have contact with her and advised both parties that they would enforce the order.

On Jan. 2, the owner of rental property on Streetsboro Road reported fences on the property have been damaged.
