South Side Neighborhood Watch
COVENTRY: Suspects stole a $1,500 snow plow pump from a vehicle in the parking lot of a Wigeon Way apartment complex Jan. 14.
On Jan. 15, deputies investigated the theft of copper pipes from an unoccupied residence on Stahl Road.
Deputies responded to a call of three shoplifters in a Manchester Road grocery store Jan. 15 and arrested one man for theft and took him to the Summit County Jail on outstanding warrants. Two other males fled and were later arrested for theft and each was released with a court summons.
Suspects stole a briefcase, laptop computer and check from the trunk of an unlocked vehicle parked in a Manchester Road plaza Jan. 16.
The manager of a group home on Green Hill Drive reported Jan. 17 a male resident has been receiving unwanted phone calls from a female at another group home. Deputies advised her not to call the male, and she agreed to comply but then called him again 10 minutes later. The manager of her residence said she would handle the matter.
A South Gregg Street woman reported Jan. 19 a video game was stolen from her home.
On Jan. 19, a driver reported his vehicle became disabled on Interstate 77, and he left it on the side of the road and went to call a tow truck. He returned to find the vehicle missing, and deputies later located it outside a factory in Canton.
A man reported an employee of a vehicle sales business threatened him in the parking lot Jan. 19 when the two argued over a financial matter. The employee denied making threats, and the two were advised to have no contact with each other.
Deputies and animal control officers searched an area around a Jarvis Road residence Jan. 20 when three wolf hybrids escaped from a cage. All three were eventually captured by Jan. 22.
Employees of a Manchester Road fast-food restaurant reported Jan. 21 an intoxicated male was sleeping at one of the tables. Deputies woke the man, and EMS evaluated him and transported him to a detoxification center. He was charged with disorderly conduct by intoxication and released with a court summons.
Deputies arrested a man for concealing items and leaving a Manchester Road grocery store without paying for them Jan. 21.

GREEN: On Jan. 15, deputies patrolling Cottage Grove Road stopped the driver of a vehicle with a loud exhaust system and arrested her for driving under suspension and possession of drugs, which were found in her purse. She was taken to the Summit County Jail on a warrant for illegal possession of pseudoephedrine.
A Seattle man, who was found intoxicated and disoriented outside a passenger boarding area at the Akron-Canton Airport Jan. 15, became belligerent and was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Summit County Jail. Medical personnel at the jail refused to admit him due to his condition, and he was transported to Akron General Medical Center and released with a court summons.
Employees of a Massillon Road gas station reported Jan. 15 a man took a 24-ounce bottle of beer from the cooler and left without paying for it. Deputies located him walking along the road. He was still in possession of the item and was arrested for theft and released him with a court summons.
An Akron man was charged with two counts of disorderly conduct at the Akron-Canton Airport Jan. 17 when the suspect was reportedly intoxicated and disruptive on an incoming flight and behaved inappropriately toward a juvenile female. He was escorted from the airplane and taken to the Summit County Jail.
A Comet Road man reported his estranged wife called him Jan. 17 to say she was coming to his home to assault him. The female denied making threats.
On Jan. 18, a Spikerman Drive man reported a suspect took his vehicle from his driveway without permission and failed to return it. Deputies located the vehicle outside an Akron restaurant and returned it to the victim, who declined prosecution.
A Wadsworth man was charged with possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia Jan. 18 after a baggage screener at the Akron-Canton Airport found the items in his golf bag. He was released with a court summons.
Suspects damaged the back door of an Arlington Road salon Jan. 18 and activated a burglar alarm. It was unknown whether they gained entry. Nothing was reported missing.
Deputies were called to a Massillon Road bank Jan. 19 when a male entered, gave a teller a note demanding money and fled with an undetermined amount of cash. Following a short foot pursuit, deputies arrested the suspect for bank robbery and took him to the Summit County Jail.
On Jan. 19, deputies arrested a man for criminal trespassing at a Mayfair Road residential complex after the suspect had been told verbally and in writing not to be on the property.
A male who was observed causing damage to a vehicle in a Massillon Road parking lot Jan. 19 was stopped as he drove out of the lot. He failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI and taken to the Summit County Jail.
A Corsham Circle man reported Jan. 20 that suspects used his identity to set up a credit account in his name, and a collection agency is attempting to collect more than $7,000 from him.

LAKEMORE: Police arrested a Sanitarium Road man on two charges of domestic violence after he allegedly choked his 6-year-old son, pushed his wife down and threatened to kill her and his sons Jan. 18.
A Mohawk Trail female was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia Jan. 19 after police questioned her for an unrelated incident at a local high school and found the items on her.
A Second Street male was charged with unruliness and domestic violence after he reportedly admitted to telling his father he would punch him in the mouth Jan. 19.
A Portage Line Road man was charged with possession of prescription medication and marijuana and possession of two drug pipes during a traffic stop on Canton Road Jan. 19.
The next day, police charged a Sunnyside Avenue man with domestic violence, disrupting public service and criminal endangering Jan. 20. The man was arrested after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend, making her fall while she had their 9-month-old in her arms, in an attempt to find the car keys she had hidden from him. He also broke her cell phone and slashed a right rear tire on her car to keep her from leaving. The fight started after she reportedly hid his medication from him.
A Van Lynn Road female told police an acquaintance told her a Samuel Road female stole her camera while she was at school Jan. 20.
The gas line on a car belonging to a Martha Avenue woman was reportedly punctured Jan. 21.
A $400 cement mixer was stolen from the yard of a Shadybrook Drive home Jan. 21.
An Ambre Drive man reported the driver’s side window on his car was broken out while he was on 44th Street Jan. 22.
A Brittany Boulevard homeowner reported Jan. 23 that a group of youths keeps coming to his home to ring the doorbell and run away.
On Jan. 24, a Newton Street male was hit in the back of the head with a 2-by-4-foot wooden plank. The attacker, a white male wearing a black hoodie, fled on foot behind the old Lakemore police building.

NEW FRANKLIN: A North Canton man reported Jan. 19 he lost his passport at a Manchester Road location.
A Manchester Road business owner reported he has been billed for services the company did not purchase since May 2009, according to a Jan. 21 report.
An 18-year-old Akron man was arrested for underage drinking on Manchester Road Jan. 22. During a traffic stop, police noticed the smell of alcohol, and the man reportedly admitted to drinking.
A Clinton man was arrested for driving while under the influence Jan. 23 on Manchester Road. Police found the man in a parking lot with his keys in the ignition. A witness told police the man stopped to use the restroom.

SPRINGFIELD: Twelve people were charged with theft after allegedly stealing from a South Arlington Road between Jan. 15 and 23, including: a Rayle Drive man for taking $103 in golf balls and a TV connector; a Raymond Street man for taking $6 in condoms; a Georgia Avenue man for taking an $80 cell phone; a Skyview Drive female for taking $50 worth of makeup; a Woodland Avenue woman for taking $43 in items; a South Main Street woman who emptied the contents of one container into another because “it was not full enough” and was charged for stealing $12 worth of the item; an Adella Avenue man for taking an $89 digital camera and who also was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and turned over to the Stark County Sheriff’s Office for an active warrant; a Delia Avenue male for taking $29 earphones; a Clyde Avenue woman for taking $29 in clothing; a Talbot Avenue woman for taking a $20 video game; a Scheller Avenue woman for taking $29 in earrings and makeup; and a South Bender Avenue woman for taking $28 worth of items. Security at the store also reported an unknown man took a $300 laptop and escaped using a fire exit.
On Jan. 16, a Kubler Trail man and a Martha Avenue woman were charged with possession of drugs after someone reported the two were snorting a white powder off a table at an East Waterloo Road bowling alley.
An Oak Drive woman reported Jan. 16 a Swinehart Road woman made verbal threats to her during church, which was located on Kubler Trail.
Also on that day, a Lansing Road woman reported her license plate was stolen from her car while she was parked at an East Waterloo Road plaza.
On Jan. 17, police investigated a report of sexual imposition involving a 40-year-old Canton man who stayed at the Hayne Road home of a friend and allegedly inappropriately touched her 11-year-old daughter several times during his weeklong stay.
A Lang Road man and woman were charged with possession of chemicals to manufacture drugs after police found drugs and items used to make drugs during a search after a traffic stop Jan. 17.
The next day, police responded to a burglary at a Swartz Road location and discovered 12 marijuana plants, drug paraphernalia, grow lights, scales and other pot growing items. Two women own the home and charges are pending.
A James Avenue woman reported her 34-year-old son took her car without permission Jan. 18. She declined to file charges when he returned it four hours later.
On Jan. 18, police charged a Northview Road male with a curfew violation, possession of marijuana and underage drinking, and a Triplett Boulevard male, a Pickle Road female and a Beasley Street female with unruliness after their parents reported they were not where they should be.
An East Turkeyfoot Lake Road man was charged with criminal trespass Jan. 18 after he was found at a South Arlington Road department store despite being banned from the place for a previous theft.
A 46-inch TV was stolen from a Mobile Lane home Jan. 19. Police found no signs of forced entry, but the homeowner stated one house key went missing last week.
Unknown suspects tried to break into a Southview Drive garage Jan. 19. The door was damaged, but the suspects did not gain entry.
A Pressler Road mailbox was run over and the front lawn damaged Jan. 19.
A Canton Road fast-food employee reported receiving a counterfeit $20 bill Jan. 20.
Police charged a Park Drive man who has four prior convictions for domestic violence with another count after he allegedly pushed his wife and threatened to harm her Jan. 20.
A Tritt Drive back bedroom window was broken out and a shotgun and case were stolen from the home after someone cut the lock off a gun storage cabinet Jan. 20. Police confiscated a large knife left at the scene.
On Jan. 21, a North Thomas Road man was charged with possession of drugs after police found white powder on him Jan. 21.
The kitchen door of an Avis Road home was broken open Jan. 21, but the homeowner reported nothing appeared to be missing.
A Shady Way man was charged with domestic violence Jan. 21 after allegedly throwing his wife to the ground and choking her until she almost passed out. The wife told police he has done the same thing on other occasions, but she never reported it.
A 13-year-old Columbine Avenue male reported Jan. 21 two bottles of prescription medicine for Xanax and Vicodin were stolen from his bedroom, and he believes some friends may have taken them.
An Armil Drive garage was broken into Jan. 22, but the renter of the unattached home told police he does not know what is missing since he does not use the garage.
A Davies Avenue man parked at a Krumroy Road location reported Jan. 22 a driver pulled up alongside his car in the driveway and shortly after, he discovered a window on his car had been broken out.
A bicycle was reported stolen from a Utica Avenue porch Jan. 22.
Metal stairs and a cast iron pot were stolen from the side yard of a Shadybrook Drive home Jan. 23.
A Krumroy Road man was charged with theft for allegedly stealing $171 worth of items from a South Arlington Road hardware store Jan. 23.
On Jan. 24, a Toby Terrace woman was charged with possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia after the items were found during a traffic stop search on Krumroy Road.
