Senior Stepper appreciates services of volunteers
To the editor:
There is a saying, “Give me flowers while I can still smell them.” Flowers are beautiful, they smell good, but eventually they die. However, with the spoken word, it lives on forever and because of it, as one of the West Akron Senior Steppers, I would like to give flowers, but in the form of the spoken words, of thanks and appreciation to two special people who have made a significant impact in my life and in the lives of many others.
The West Akron Senior Steppers are a group of approximately 100 or more seniors who are 55 years old or older. We come together every Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Lawton Street Community Center to learn line dancing. I have found line dancing to be fun, energizing, stimulating, and it keeps us agile. It also gives us something positive to look forward to each week.
The two special people that I would like to thank are the director, Alan Manley, who is with Universal Nursing Services Inc., and the dance instructor, Bobbie Fields. They have taken time from their busy schedules to provide a service to the seniors in the West Akron area.
They are very understanding and patient with us, even when some of us are experiencing our “senior moments.” They seem to enjoy every moment of the services that they are giving as much as we enjoy receiving them.
Thank you, Alan and Bobbie, for the services that you are giving for which I am greatly appreciative.
Nellie Jones, West Akron
