Bath resident recommends rehiring Snow
To the editor:
I have been a Bath Township resident since 1972 and have been proud of the community and how it has grown to the level of strength through leadership of the administrator and departments for the past 15 years.
Bill Snow has spent endless days, nights and hours outside of a normal workday to guide Bath Township in ways that have made it the model that other communities have followed. His knowledge of labor, negotiations, budgets, long-range planning and implementation of economical measures, just to mention a few, places him in a position that has earned him respect and recognition from local and state officials as the top township administrator in Ohio.
As a result of Bill’s efforts, knowing that 2013 was going to be a financial hardship to the township, he was effective in selling off the township bonds, resulting in funds to pay off all of our debts. His experience and knowledge of labor relations will be of vital importance in early 2013 when union contracts are due to become active.
Now comes the new challenge.
Because of state governmental decisions that affect health care plans and pensions being delayed in Columbus, he is forced to act now. Bill has had to resign his position effective Aug. 31, 2012, to protect his pension. He has requested to be rehired at a 25 percent reduction in salary. This is a decision that should not have to be made, but he is a man who wants to protect his family’s future and continue his passions as a township administrator in Bath.
The trustees have suggested possibly an outsider to be hired. This is a no-brainer! To quote a line from “The Music Man” — “he doesn’t know the territory.” It rests squarely on the shoulders of the trustees. Their action will be responsible for the future and well-being of Bath Township. Remember this — “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.”
