On April 19, the Green High School gymnasium was filled to near capacity with cheering fans as our Green community team officially named “Gang Green” donned their hot pink jerseys to play a game of basketball against the Harlem Wizards. It truly was one slammin’ show!

The Green Local Schools and Green PTAs were huge benefactors of this one-of-a-kind, first-time in Green, fun-filled family evening. Wizards showman “Tojo” Henderson led his gifted and talented team of seven to a dribbling, dunking showdown vs. our Gang Green. Gang Green — comprised of energetic teachers, administrators, students, community leaders and a Summit County [sheriff’s] deputy — held their own and even attempted a dunk or two. Fabulous cheerleaders and fan support made the evening memorable.

This night with the Harlem Wizards was a tremendous success on all levels, and the proceeds will benefit each school PTA fund. This first annual event was made possible by our sponsors: TC Architects, the city of Green, Temperature Control Co., The Garland Co., Legends Sports Pub and Grille, MSG, Martin Public Seating, Got Game Sports, Akron General Medical Center, Donamarc Water Systems, Conrad’s, Target, Splash n’ Dash and Rush Bus Centers. Last, but certainly not least, a huge thanks to our over 1,200 fans who came to watch and participate in this showstopper!

Thank you for your support and cheers. Watch for the Harlem Wizards return trip to Green next spring!

Nina Biscan, Michelle Herdlick, Wendall Jackson and Julie McMahan, Green
