To the editor:

The Friends of the Library group for the Portage Lakes Branch of the Akron-Summit County Library held its spring book sale the last week in April. The sale was a success. We want to thank everyone who helped: members of the Friends group who volunteered their time to work on the book sale, members of the Manchester High School football team who carried all our boxes of books, members of the Manchester High School National Honor Society who volunteered, and Lakes Beverage, which provided dozens of empty boxes. We would also like to thank the community that came out and supported our efforts by buying the books. The monies raised will go towards Portage Lakes Branch Library projects and programs. Our fall book sale will be Oct. 3 for members and Oct. 5 for the general sale. We can always use people to help throughout the year, quality book donations and, of course, people coming to the book sale who want to stock up for their winter reading.
