To the editor:

Nov. 29 was a cold, chilly night, but many hearty souls came out to the Wye Road Bridge in Bath Township. Children and adults welcomed Santa and kicked off the holiday season by watching the decorated bridge lights come on.

The Bath Business Association [BBA] is the proud sponsor of this annual event. But it takes a township to make a successful Bridge lighting. The BBA would like to thank [Police] Chief [Michael] McNeely and, [from] the Bath Police Department, Mike Gabel and Rich Munsey for their help; Larry Coffee for escorting Santa to the bridge; Township Administrator Vito Sinopoli for being our master of ceremonies; and Service Director Colin Cain and his employees for decorating the bridge.

We greatly appreciate Tim Goddard, Chris, Mike and Chris for providing the mule and wagon rides, Bill and Melody Snow for conducting the texting contest, Randy’s Pump for providing the tent, Veronica’s Inc. for providing the children’s ornament station and CleverPup101 for hosting Santa and all the children.

All the volunteers who helped pass out coffee and cookies and guiding the children to Santa, we thank you. Our thanks to Panera [Bread] for providing coffee, the Bake Shop for the hot chocolate and cookies and Aqua Pools for providing the gift bags.

Many thanks to Gail Hartman and Jody Miller Konstand for our ad design. Last, but not least, Emily Doland for leading our “choir” in holiday songs.

As you can see, it takes a township to create a bridge lighting. Our membership encourages you to shop “Bath Businesses” this holiday.

We wish you all good health and holiday cheer.

Nadine Clar, on behalf of Bath Business Association
