FAIRLAWN — Ali Whitley, of Cutler Real Estate’s Fairlawn office, was named REALTOR® of the Year by the Akron Area Board of REALTORS® (AABOR) and also was recently recognized at the Annual Convention of the Ohio Association of REALTORS.

This award is the highest honor given by AABOR, a 1,350-member trade organization. The criteria for the award focuses on local, state and national REALTOR association leadership and involvement, as well as on community service contributions.

Whitley graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University in 1992 and has been a licensed salesperson since 1997. She has earned several professional designations, including the Graduate REALTORS Institute (GRI) in 2006, the Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES) in 2008 and the E-PRO in 2011.

She was AABOR president in 2012 and has served on several committees and task forces, as well as on its Board of Directors from 2006 to 2008, in addition to her current term, which began in 2010. She also has chaired several committees, including Legislative Affairs. Other committee participation includes the Professional Standards, Professional Development and Young Professionals committees. Whitley also was a member of the Regionalism Task Force that worked on the impending merger of AABOR and the Cleveland Area Board of REALTORS. The two will merge into the Akron Cleveland Association of REALTORS Oct. 1.

On the state level, Whitley currently serves as a director for the Ohio Association of REALTORS (OAR) and as vice chair of its Professional Development Committee. She also is a member of OAR’s Scholarship and Legislative committees.

Whitley also is a member of the Miller South School for the Visual and Performing Arts Drama Parents Association, the Miller South PTA and the Girl Scouts of North East Ohio.
