Donzell’s celebrating Spring Gardening Month

SOUTH AKRON — April is Spring Gardening Month at Donzell’s Flower and Garden Center, with the following special offerings:

  • Free soil testing will be offered each Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Lawn and Garden Department.
  • On April 5, a “Pansy Pandemonium” Container Workshop will take place at 11 a.m. in the greenhouse. The cost is $12.99 each or $9.99 for seniors or children 12 and younger. The price includes a pot, soil, plants and instruction. Registration and prepayment are required, as space is limited.
  • Also on that day, a “4-Easy Steps to a Lovely Lawn” seminar will be presented at 11 a.m. by speaker Dan Stefancik, a Donzell’s Garden Doctor. Stefancik will discuss how a 4-Step Program can take the guesswork out of lawn care. Call 330-724-0550 to register.
  • On April 5 and 6, Operation Orphan Wildlife Rescue will be available from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fran Kitchen will have rescued “backyard babies” with her and animal rescue information.
  • On April 12, a “You Can Compost!” seminar will be presented at 11 a.m. with speaker Stefancik. Call to register.
  • On April 19, a “Make a Miniature Garden” Terrarium Workshop will take place at 11 a.m. Donzell’s will provide everything needed to design a glass garden, including soil, charcoal, stones, moss, a glass container, choice of three plants and instruction for $24.99. Participants can customize with other accessories available at additional cost. Registration and prepayment are required.
  • During Earth Week, April 21-27, plastic pots, trays and inserts can be dropped off for recycling.
  • On April 26, the Northeast Ohio Daffodil Show will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Accredited judging of daffodil hybrid entries will take place at 11:30 a.m. Attendees can meet Daffodil Society members and see a selection of unique varieties of daffodils. This event is free and open to the public.
  • On April 26, an “Earth Week” Wine Tasting Event will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. featuring local and organic wine now available at Donzell’s.
  • Customers can collect Blooming Bucks with each $10 purchase during April, redeemable in July (some limits apply).
