Woodridge defeats CVCA in first game of season

CUYAHOGA FALLS — Woodridge High School’s football team started the season with a 55-0 win over Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA) Aug. 24 at CVCA.

Woodridge quarterback Sean McCoy was 17-for-22 for 284 yards and five touchdowns. McCoy (No. 9) is shown at left, at left, throwing a complete pass to senior Brett Schroeder (No. 4), who caught seven passes for 82 yards and two touchdowns.

Woodridge’s John Reid (No. 27) is shown at right bottom, at left, on a running play while being pursued by CVCA junior Matt Peticca (No. 11). Reid rushed for two touchdowns.

Shown at right middle is CVCA’s Josh Decatur (No. 10), at right, on a kick off return as he runs behind CVCA blocker Arthur Dunkley (No. 3).

Shown at right top is CVCA’s Mark Miller (No. 40) as he catches a pass for a gain in the second quarter.

Both teams will play tomorrow, Aug. 31.

CVCA will be on the road and play Norwayne High School at 7:30 p.m. Woodridge will play at home at 7 p.m. against Manchester High School.
