Internationals qualify for national title

GREATER AKRON — The U15 team of high school girls from the Internationals Soccer Club qualified to compete for the national U.S. Youth Soccer title in South Carolina. The team is comprised of girls from several Northeast Ohio high schools and is coached by Zdravko Popovic, Keri Sarver and Alan Ceepo.

This past year, the team won the Pacesetter Showcase as well as the KSA Adidas Turf Classic. They won the State Cup championship in order to qualify for Midwest Regional competition in Saginaw, Mich., where they competed against 16 teams from 12 states, according to team officials.

The team, shown at right, from left, includes: (back row) Ceepo, Rachel Baughman, Alyssa Baumbick, Sarah Puntel, Zoe McCormick, Jennifer Farwell and Sarver; (middle row) Talia Suglia, Elle Cain, Taylor Ceepo, Taylor Smith, Acadia Palocko, Jenna Dorchock and Brooke Brenner; and (bottom row) Laney Haviland, Holland Erb, Hanna Ludwig, Gabby Field, Courtney Campbell and Haleigh Guerra.
