Buckeye Classics senior softball team wins Morgantown tourney

The Buckeye Classics are a senior softball team based out of Akron with players from the Akron Silver League, according to team officials. The event was a two-day tournament, and the team came away as the champions of this year’s 50+ age bracket. They won the championship game against a team from Martinsburg, W.Va., by a score of 16-4, according to team officials.
The team members, shown at right, include: Mike Cianciola and Jeff Sloan, of Akron; Bobby Shaftstall, of Barberton; Eddie Berichon and Kirby Mayle, of Canton; Eddie Schepp and John Yurkschatt, of Copley; Lenny Huddleston, of Cuyahoga Falls; Gary Bussan, of Doylestown; Rick Maj, of North Canton; Ron Matthews, of North Ridgeville; Pat Lorson, of Orrville; Dennis Loughry, of Tallmadge; and Doug Smith, manager Mike Cairns and coach Tom Shaftstall, of Uniontown.
