Wounded Warriors Project

COPLEY — The Copley Police Department Police Association will host its first Run for Veterans 5K run/walk Nov. 9. The funds collected through this event will benefit the Wounded Warriors Project. The run will take place at Copley Community Park, and the participation of community organizations and families is encouraged. Sponsoring businesses and agencies will have their names printed on the race shirts. The goal is to raise $3,000 and receive the participation of 150 applicants. Families are encouraged to enter as teams for the 5K or the 1-mile walk. Donation checks can be made out to the Copley Police Association. Registration is available online at www.hmapromotions.net. St. Sebastian Knights of Columbus

WEST AKRON — The St. Sebastian Parish Knights of Columbus announce the running of its third annual 5k Race Around the Park & Family Fun Run Oct. 19. The scenic run will take place around Schneider Park and through the surrounding neighborhoods. The Family Fun Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m., and the entire family can register for $10. The 5k Race Around the Park will begin at 9:45 a.m. Preregister online by Oct. 9 for $25 or register on the day of the race for $30. The race will begin in front of St. Sebastian Church on Mull Avenue near Greenwood Avenue. Event TEK T-shirts and finishing awards for 5K race age group winners will be provided. All proceeds will benefit the St. Sebastian Knights of Columbus, which help numerous area organizations.
