Norton girls soccer team wins championship

NORTON — The Norton girls C14 team won the Greater Akron Amateur Soccer Association championship.

In the semifinal game, the team won 2-1 in a shootout against the New Philadelphia Quakers. The finals also went to a shootout against Lake United, with Norton winning 4-3.

The team, shown above, from left, includes: (front row) Bella Soza-Melendez, Emily Brown, Kelsey Ringkor, Sam Jagger and Heather Cooley; and (back row) Morgan Knight, McKayla Croft, Hannah Mariani, coach Edwin Soza-Melendez, Makalya Crowder, Marissa Yavanovich, Kalista Boman and Bella Wengerd.

Not pictured are Maddie Tomasik, Lydia Ruff, Kylie Lewis and Lindzy Senderak.
