Teammates win gold at Special Olympics Winter Games

WEST AKRON — West Akron residents P.J. O’Neil, a seventh-grader at St. Hilary School, and Todd Eisinger, 26, braved the Jan. 28 winter storm and competed in alpine skiing at the Ohio Special Olympics Winter Games at Brandywine Ski Resort Jan. 28-29.

Each athlete won two medals. O’Neil won gold in the intermediate downhill and bronze in the intermediate giant slalom, while Eisinger won gold medals in the advanced giant slalom and the advanced downhill. 

Both O’Neil and Eisinger, shown at right, from left, are members of the Summit Special Olympic Athletic Club and also compete in swimming events.
