Crown Point Ecology Center hosting organic plant sale

BATH — The eighth annual Crown Point Ecology Center organic plant sale will take place May 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and May 20 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The event will feature a diverse selection of vegetables, all grown at Crown Point, and include heirloom varieties intended for gardens.

Available vegetables will include: sweet corn, okra, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants, herbs, melons, cucumbers, lettuce, greens, as well as Slow Food USA Ark of Taste varieties, organic vegetable seeds from High Mowing Organic Seeds and organic fertilizer.

Flowers also will be available for purchase.

Other items available at the event will include wooden garden decorations and furniture crafted by JB Wood ’N Craft, carved sandstone garden benches, birdbaths and ornaments crafted by Tim Paull Cut Sandstone.

A special Friday presale event for Friends of Crown Point is planned for May 14 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Also, May 19 at 10:30 a.m., guest speaker Jane Snow, a former newspaper food writer, will grill vegetables and herbs.

Local food and beverage vendors will offer breakfast burritos from Spice of Life Catering on Saturday.

Demonstrations and children’s entertainment activities provided while parents shop will be free and open to the public.

Major credit cards will be accepted for any plant purchases. The plant sale will be held rain or shine in the bank barn.
