DOWNTOWN AKRON — Lock 3 Park glowed with holiday spirit as the city of Akron conducted its annual Lighting Ceremony Nov. 23. The city’s decorated and lighted Christmas tree, which was felled in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy on the Sterling Jewelers campus in Akron, is pictured at bottom left. The evening also featured a fireworks display, as shown at bottom right.

Among those who enjoyed activities that night were siblings Adrianna Klepper, 9, Kila Klepper, 6, and Jadyn Klepper, 9, of Green, and their mother, Jessica Dice, who are pictured at top left in a snowman family cutout decoration.

Revelers also enjoyed a performance on the city’s ice rink. Some in attendance also had the chance to take to the ice themselves. Pictured at middle right from left are Michael Sabo, 20, of Sagamore Hills; his aunt, Colleen Guest, visiting from New Hope, Pa.; his mother, Lauren Sabo, of Sagamore Hills; and cousin, Brooke Barther, 10, of Independence.

Others checked out Lock 3’s Reindeer Run, an artificial sled hill. Tim Stults, of Barberton, and his daughter Alana Stults, 6, are pictured at top right near left as they give the attraction a try.
