WITAN marks 70th anniversary with ball
According to event officials, the ball raised more than $44,000 for the WITAN Community Projects Fund, and $22,000 for the WITAN Endowment Fund at Akron Community Foundation. Since its founding in 1943, WITAN, which stands for Women In Touch With Akron’s Needs, has raised and granted more than $2 million to area agencies, and WITAN’s members have performed more than 3 million hours of volunteer service, according to event officials.
Guests enjoyed dining, dancing and a silent auction with a variety of items, according to event officials. Shown at right, from left, are Jim and Diana Snider, and Steve Shechter.
