SPRINGFIELD — The annual Bark in the Park took place May 11 and brought pet owners and pets together to support PAWSibilities, the Humane Society of Greater Akron.

Among the participants was Springfield Township resident Zach Zeisig, 7, who is shown above as he tugs at his Labrador mixed-breed rescue dog, Abby, during the 1-mile walk at Springfield Lake.

Summer, a therapy dog owned by Barberton resident John Yarsa, also attended the event and sported a hat and shades for the day, as pictured at right bottom.

Louisville resident Kim McKnight is shown at right top as he holds a handful of Pixie, a 2-year-old Minpin Chihuahua at the walk.

The event also featured a Pet Expo with booths representing animal organizations. New Franklin resident Caroline Barnes is shown below, at left, with her dog Carrie, and friend and Springfield resident Alishia Zaucha and her dog Cocoa as they check out what the event had to offer.
