Flood recovery fundraiser

MERRIMAN VALLEY — Friends of Jim and Traci Williams, of West Akron, are hosting a flood recovery fundraiser for the family Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at the Beer Haus, 1824 Merriman Road. The event will feature a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. The cost to attend is a $25 donation per person or $40 for couples. The July 10 storm flooded the Williams’ home and washed away two basement walls. Unable to return home, the Williams have had to rely on family and friends for many of their needs, according to organizers. The total cost to fix their home is about $50,000, with insurance covering a small portion, according to organizers. A benevolent fund has been established at the Tallmadge KeyBank, 76 Tallmadge Circle, for Jim and Traci Williams. For more information, visit www.helpjimandtraci.com.
