WEST AKRON — E. J. “Bud” Marting, a co-owner of Marting Realty, died Aug. 28 after a battle with cancer.

According to his obituary, Marting, 69, was a real estate broker for 42 years and was a part of Marting Realty from 1969 to 1995, until it merged with Cutler Real Estate. He then continued working with Cutler until he retired in 2010.

“We missed Bud when he retired and now we will miss him even more,” said Jim Camp, principal broker at Cutler. “He was a credit to our industry. Bud played an integral part in nearly every major project that Cutler was involved with. Bud managed four different Cutler offices at different times, and in his role as manager of special projects, he was involved in numerous mergers and acquisitions, building renovations and other critical projects. Bud was willing to do whatever it took to get the job done, and no job was too big or too small. We at Cutler Real Estate will miss his dry humor, his willingness to mentor and his drive to make the real estate business more professional.”

Marting also held several board positions and was a past president of the Akron Area Board of Realtors. He had received the Realtor of the Year award from the Ohio Association of Realtors.

Marting was born in Akron Dec. 7, 1943, lived in Houston, Texas, until 1969 and then in West Akron, according to his obituary. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.H. “Bill” Marting and Betty Shaw. He was married to his wife, Elsa, for 44 years. He is survived by his children, Mindy (Brad) Cvammen and Matthew (Jenny) Marting; sister, Judy Hubenak; aunt, Dorothy St. Onge; cousin and business partner, Bill (Jinny) Marting; brother-in-law, Emiro (Margaret) Uribe; grandchildren, Megan and Ryan Cvammen and Adam and Alex Marting; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, according to his obituary.

In his obituary, his wishes were for people to give someone they love a hug.

A memorial service was held Aug. 31 at the Billow Fairlawn Chapel. Memorials are being accepted at Hospice of Summa, P.O. Box 2090, Akron, OH 44398 or Stewart’s Caring Place, 2955 W. Market St., Suite R, Akron, OH 44333.
