NEOMED graduates honored

ROOTSTOWN — Northeast Ohio Medical University (NEOMED) honored 184 graduates in May. They include:

  • Dr. Laura Bukavina, of Richfield, who was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in Internal Medicine-Preliminary at Summa Health System/NEOMED in Akron. She is a graduate of Holy Name High School and Cleveland State University. She is the daughter of Roma Fulmes, is married to Pavlo Karpyn and is mother to Roman Karpyn.
  • Dr. Nida Degesys, of Cuyahoga Falls, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is serving as the 2013-14 national president of the American Medical Student Association in Sterling, Va. Degesys is a graduate of Mayfield High School and Ohio University. She is the daughter of T. Roma Jasinevicius, D.D.S., and D. Daniel Degesys, D.D.S., and is married to David Kocan.
  • Dr. Aditi Gupta, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in pediatrics at Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Va. Gupta is a graduate of Our Lady of the Elms High School and Youngstown State University. She is the daughter of Dr. Adarsh Gupta and Dr. Madhu Gupta.
  • Dr. Patricia Khatib, of Norton, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in emergency medicine at Akron General Medical Center/NEOMED. She is a graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School and Kent State University. She is the daughter of Michael and Nunzia Reynolds and is married to Zaid Khatib.
  • Dr. Megan Litman, of Bath, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in pediatrics at Akron Children’s Hosptial/NEOMED. Litman is a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School, The Ohio State University and Boston College. She is the daughter of George and Judy Litman and is mother to Matt Pacyna.
  • Dr. Luke Misquitta, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in psychiatry at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. Misquitta is a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School and Kent State University. He is the son of Derek and Louisa Misquitta.
  • Dr. Neema Patel, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in anesthesiology at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia. Patel is a graduate of Western Reserve Academy and Swarthmore College. She is the daughter of Mahendra and Minaxi Patel.
  • Dr. Henry White, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of medicine degree and is pursuing a residency in emergency medicine at Wayne State University/Detroit Medical Center. He is a graduate of Revere High School and The Ohio State University and is the son of Andrew and Jean White.
  • Dr. Jason Lionetti, of Copley, was awarded a doctor of pharmacy degree and is pursuing a postgraduate year one pharmacy residency and combined master’s degree and postgraduate year two pharmacy residency in health-system pharmacy administration at Harris Health System in Houston. Lionetti is a graduate of Revere High School and is the son of James and Michelle Lionetti.
  • Dr. Kelly McCurdy, of Cuyahoga Falls, was awarded a doctor of pharmacy degree and will enter hospital pharmacy at Summa Home Infusion in Akron. McCurdy is a graduate of Marlington High School, the University of Alabama and Kent State University. She is the daughter of Sandra Eyer, is married to David McCurdy and is mother to Cassandra, Julianne and Holly McCurdy.
  • Dr. Jonathan Meli, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of pharmacy degree and is pursuing a postgraduate year one pharmacy residency and combined master’s degree and postgraduate year two pharmacy residency in health-system pharmacy administration at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. Meli is a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School and Miami University. He is the son of Joseph Meli and Mary Meli.
  • Dr. Nicholas Novotny, of Akron, was awarded a doctor of pharmacy degree and will enter community pharmacy at Walgreens in Chicago. Novotny is a graduate of Marion L. Steele High School and The University of Akron. He is the son of Dan and Beth Novotny.
