DOWNTOWN AKRON — The 111th Charity Ball, which took place Dec. 28 at The University of Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall, featured the presentation of 24 debutantes who were chosen based on their parents’ and grandparents’ volunteer contributions to the community.

According to event officials, about 600 people attended the event presented by the Women’s Board of Akron Children’s Hospital. After being held at Goodyear Hall for 38 years, the Charity Ball returned to E.J. Thomas Hall, where it was held for several years during the 1970s.

According to event officials, the event was expected to raise $75,000 for the patient-care programs at Akron Children’s Hospital.
