Les Belles Perles Cotillion showcases seniors

DOWNTOWN AKRON — The Akron Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. held its annual Les Belles Perles (“The Beautiful Pearls”) Cotillion Feb. 16 at The University’s Quaker Station.

Sixteen debutantes representing area high schools were presented. The debutantes are all high school seniors and were selected based on their academic performance, school and community involvement, letters of recommendation and a personal interview with the applicants and their parents or guardians, according to event officials.

The participants, shown above, and the high schools they attend included:

  • Akron Early College High School: Raylyn Trice;
  • Archbishop Hoban High School: Courtney Jones, Morgan Matthews and Brianna Motley;
  • Buchtel High School: Corsha Carter, Florence Cunningham, Colleen Lee and Chantel Stockard;
  • Copley High School: Jamia Richardson;
  • East Community Learning Center: Morgan Felder;
  • Firestone High School: Charletta Richardson, Melia Romine and Tayler Threatt (The Akron School for the Arts);
  • GlenOak High School: Brooklyn McDaniels;
  • Green High School: Caelyn Boyd; and
  • St. Vincent-St. Mary High School: Ishsha Benice Stubbs.
