According to Mature Services Inc. officials, 450 mature job seekers attended the event, which was hosted by the Mature Services’ Employment and Training Solutions program, a division of Mature Services, and funded through the Senior Community Service Employment Program. Shown above are participants at the fair.
According to Mature Services officials, 40 employers were on hand looking to hire older workers.
“Job fairs offer an excellent opportunity to meet new employers, establish networking relationships and discuss openings at particular companies in a relaxed setting,” according to Don Zirkle, training and placing supervisor for Mature Services’ Employment and Training Solutions. “One of the goals of our job fair is to break down the barriers between a job seeker and an employer and promote communication and networking, and this goal was definitely accomplished at this year’s Job & Career Fair. We couldn’t be more pleased with how greatly this event turned out.”
Four free workshops were also offered throughout the day, thanks to the participation of Dana Beezley-Kwasnika, Chris Walker, Jim Griggy and Jo Ann Wetzel, according to Mature Services officials. Topics covered everything from starting a small business to learning how to use free library resources and accessing job opportunities through social media.
“It’s good to see so many employers and companies recognizing the contribution mature workers make to our community,” said Paul Magnus, vice president of workforce development at Mature Services.
