Catherine Richards DAR marks anniversary

GREEN — The Daughters of the American Revolution, Catherine Richards Chapter, celebrated its seventh anniversary Jan. 7 with 72 members. The chapter has participated in parades and a Vietnam 50th anniversary celebration at Central Park, sung at local senior homes, created library displays, hosted genealogy workshops, laid wreaths at patriot graves, placed a bronze marker at Glendale Cemetery and prepared meals for the Ronald McDonald House, Veterans Resource Fair, the Summit County StandDown, MAPS Museum and more. The chapter offers school programs on the American Revolution and the Constitution. Membership is open to women age 18 and older with family ties to the Revolutionary War. The next meeting is Feb. 4 at 1 p.m. at the John Torok Senior and Community Center, 4224 Massillon Road. The program includes Sally the therapy dog.
