DECA students create business, head to state competition

GREATER AKRON — Juniors and seniors from Barberton, Copley, Norton and Wadsworth high schools that are part of the Four Cities Compact DECA/Marketing program started their own business, Ambiton, through the Junior Achievement Company Program during this year’s program. The students created an inspirational bracelet in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic with the words “Persistence” and “Strength” to motivate wearers and to show that people are all in this together.
Shown above, from left, are program juniors Nick Vaudrin, Jada Whited, Michael Choueiry, Kaige Lowe, John Jackson, Tony Fox, De Marion Cook-Davis, Madison Molnar and Caleb Porter. Pictured below, from left, are program seniors Alyssa Vollmer, Karla James, Cole Dahlke, Cheyenne Konkel, Lauren Morgan and Elizabeth Duffield.
In addition, students participated in an annual competition, which was held virtually this year. The top three students in their categories from the West Side Leader coverage area who will move on to compete at the state level this month include: in first place, Cole Dahlke (accounting) and Rawney Trunko, from Copley; and in third place, Caleb Patterson (business finance), from Norton, and Farah Hassan (marketing), from Copley.
