ODOT District 3 (Medina County) Weekly Construction Report


Week of May 2, 2022

MEDINA COUNTY (Thursday, April 28, 2022) – The following construction projects are anticipated to affect highways in Medina County next week. All outlined work is weather permitting.


State Route 18 major reconstruction – State Route 18, from just west of Alber Drive to Nettleton Road, will have single lane closures as crews widen and reconstruct the roadway.

NEW IMPACTS

  • Crews will be working on water service tie-ins along SR 18.
  • Crews will be placing drainage structures along the west side of River Styx Road. They will place pipe across River Styx, just south of Octagon Drive, with one lane of traffic being maintained by flaggers.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Embankment work continues at North Frontage Road, off of SR 18.
  • Crews continue work on the wall at the corner of SR 18 and River Styx Road, by Goodwill. Work includes shearing studs, drainage system items, and hanging reinforcing steel.
  • SR 18, from Alber Drive to Glenshire Road will be reduced to 10’ lanes in both directions.

Estimated completion: June 2024


State Route 18 intersection improvements – State Route 18, from Windfall Road to Medina County line, will have single lane closures as needed for intersection improvement work. The following intersections will be improved: Windfall Road, SR 94, and Medina Line Road.

NEW IMPACTS

  • Pavement repairs will begin on mainline SR 18.

CONTINUING IMPACTS

  • Widening work has begun at the SR 18 and SR 94 intersection.
  • Crews are working on signal foundations and drainage repairs.

Estimated completion: August 2022


U.S. Route 42/224 resurfacing – U.S. 42/224, from SR 421 to Leroy Road, will have single lane closures for a resurfacing project. Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes.

NEW IMPACTS

  • Traffic will be switched from a right lane closure to a left lane closure on Thursday, May 5; however, all work is weather dependent and subject to change. As the traffic change is taking place, there will be periodic closures of all intersecting roads/ramps that will be maintained by flaggers when necessary.
  • Once traffic is in its new configuration, outside turn lanes will be impacted/removed as crews complete the resurfacing work.
  • Traffic will be maintained in 11’ lanes.

Estimated completion: November 2022


State Route 162 culvert replacement – NEW IMPACTS State Route 162, just west of River Styx Road, will close Monday, May 9 for a culvert replacement. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be SR 162 to SR 57, north on SR 57 to SR 18, east on SR 18 to SR 94, south on SR 94 to SR 162, and reverse for westbound motorists. Estimated completion: Friday, May 13, 2022
