COLUMBUS — The following athletes in the West Side Leader and South Side News Leader coverage area competed in the state track and field championship June 3-4:
√ in boys Division I: from Revere Local Schools, Andrew Farrow; from Walsh Jesuit High School, Luke Ondracek; and from Copley-Fairlawn City Schools (CFCS), Dylan Wood;
√ in girls Division I: from Highland Local Schools, Sierra Podolan and Ellen Fuller; and from CFCS, Madilyne Wicks;
√ in Division II: Manchester Local School’s Josiah Cox finished first in the boys shot put and the discus throw; in boys pole vault St. Vincent-St. Mary (STVM) High School’s Blake Sifferlin finished third; in the 110-meter hurdles Woodridge Local Schools Kyle Carey finished second; and in boys discus throw Woodridge’s Oliver Mayer took third. Also competing were Woodridge’s Cooper Defrange and Seth Singer; STVM’s Calil McCray; Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy’s (CVCA) Drennan Akins; and Buchtel Community Learning Center’s Monte Blair;
√ in Division II: in girls shot put and discus throw Norton City Schools Morgan Hallett finished first; in the girls 100-meter dash and the 200-meter dash STVM’s Kya Epps finished first in both; in the 100-meter hurdles Buchtel’s DaMya Barker took first; in the 300-meter hurdles Barker also finished first and Woodridge’s Anna Rorrer finished second; in the 800-meter run Woodridge’s Izzy Best finished third; and in the 400-meter dash Buchtel’s Tay’onia Whitaker took third. Also competing were McKenzie Neal and Sam Pixler from CVCA; Nye Kimble and Olivia Kindbom from STVM; McKayla Wymer from Manchester; and Reese Reaman from Woodridge.
