Revere student receives P.E.O. STAR Scholarship

BATH — The P.E.O. Sisterhood’s $2,500 P.E.O. Star Scholarship for this year has been presented to Keri Tomechko, a recent Revere High School graduate, during a virtual senior awards ceremony by Joyce Cunningham, Chapter AM-BV STAR Scholarship chair.
Tomechko, pictured at right, was recommended for the scholarship by Chapter AM-BV of Akron, according to club officials, who added she plans to study global health and biology at Duke University.
Officials explained the scholarship is awarded based on excellence in leadership, extracurricular activities, community service, academics and potential for success. The program is open to female graduates who are legal permanent residents of the U.S. or Canada.
The P.E.O. Sisterhood, founded in 1869 at Iowa Wesleyan College in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, is an international philanthropic and educational organization that promotes increased educational opportunities for women. It has provided over $366 million in financial assistance to more than 113,000 recipients, according to club officials.
