Snowbird Festival returns to RHP

RICHFIELD — Richfield Village and Township and the Richfield Joint Recreation District’s Snowbird Festival will offer a wide array of wintertime fun when it returns Jan. 22 for the first time since 2020.
This year’s festival will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Richfield Heritage Preserve (RHP), 4374 Broadview Road. John Piepsny, Richfield Village Parks and Recreation director and director for the Richfield Joint Recreation District, said the event will feature Akron-Summit County Public Library Children’s Librarian Diane Nagy reading stories from 1 to 2 p.m.; winter animals from the Akron Zoo from 2 to 2:45 p.m.; photo opportunities with a penguin pack; a Husky sled dog team and its trainer; juggling performances from the St. Ignatius High School Circus Company; guided hikes; hot dogs and other refreshments, along with a bonfire; and crafts, activities and games, two of which are shown from the 2020 event.
Piepsny said the festival drew an estimated 350 people in January 2020.
“It brings awareness to the [RHP], which is beautiful,” he said “We also like to host events for the community — residents and nonresidents alike.”
