Summit ESC award winners announced

SUMMIT COUNTY — The Summit Educational Service Center’s (ESC) 2021 Education Celebration, an annual event that honors and recognizes educators from around Northeast Ohio who are making an impact in students’ lives, included honoring Lifetime Achievement Award winner James Robinson, recently retired Manchester Local Schools superintendent.
Robinson has been dedicated to his profession for over 48 years in education, working as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, director of curriculum and superintendent, and always for the betterment of staff, students and parents of the community, according to ESC officials. He was recognized as a graduate teaching fellow at Ashland University, served as a member of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators working to revise the State Report Card, was recognized by the Ohio superintendent of public instruction for implementation of conflict resolution programming, served as a board member for the Metropolitan Regional Service Council, has published numerous national journal articles on education and written and received numerous local and state grants, ESC officials added.
Other awards presented at the Education Celebration include Rookie of the Year Award winner Lashawna Grimes, a computer programming and software development instructor in Akron Public Schools’ Buchtel Community Learning Center, and the Teacher of the Year Award to Lynnette Jiminez, a seventh-grade English/language arts teacher with Twinsburg City Schools.
