COVENTRY: A Sauer Drive man reported Dec. 25 his neighbor’s dog was running in his yard and he corralled it in his garage. He stated it is an ongoing problem. The dog was returned to the owner, and Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies advised the Kew Drive man that he would face charges if his dog runs loose in the neighborhood again.
Deputies picked up a Meadowridge Road man arrested by the Barberton Police Department on a felony warrant for possession of fentanyl Dec. 27 and took him to the Summit County Jail.
On Dec. 30, deputies patrolling Manchester Road spotted a vehicle in the parking lot of a motel and determined the owner was wanted on a felony warrant. Deputies located the Wilbeth Road woman in a motel room and arrested her. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and two marijuana cigarettes found in her purse during her arrest. A Chester Avenue man who appeared to be under the influence of an unknown substance admitted he had used methamphetamine in the room and stated he had some in his possession. Deputies located it in a bag, along with a razor blade and a guitar pick containing drug residue. He also was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia and felony drug possession. Both the man and woman were taken to the Summit County Jail.
Deputies investigated the theft of a blue 2004 Honda Accord from outside a Waterside Drive residence Dec. 31. A woman reported the ignition key was accidentally left in the vehicle. Information about the vehicle was entered into a national database for stolen vehicles.
On Jan. 1, deputies responded to a disturbance at a Lowe Drive residence where a man reported his stepsister assaulted him during an argument after his father tried to intervene. Deputies signed warrants for the arrest of the woman, who was gone when they arrived, on two counts of domestic violence.
Employees of a Portage Lakes Drive bar reported an intoxicated man created a disturbance Jan. 1 at 1:17 a.m., when he attempted to pass a line of people waiting to enter the bar, became belligerent when employees stopped him and began yelling vulgar comments at employees and patrons. Deputies found the Meredith Lane man outside the bar yelling. He was charged with disorderly conduct, given a court summons and released.
A man reported he went to a Penguin Avenue residence Jan. 1 at 3 a.m. in an attempt to resolve a civil issue and was in his vehicle in the driveway when a man smashed the driver’s side window, causing him to sustain cuts from the glass. Deputies are seeking the man, who was gone when they arrived, and charges are pending completion of an investigation.

GREEN: A woman called Summit County Sheriff’s Office deputies to an Interstate Parkway business Dec. 25. She told deputies her live-in boyfriend punched her in the face while they were watching a movie. She signed charges, and the Sheridan Street man was arrested for domestic violence and taken to the Summit County Jail.
The owner of rental property on Massillon Road reported Dec. 26 someone broke into a residence through the garage window, damaged a garage door to enter the kitchen and damaged several cabinets to remove and steal a washing machine.
Deputies responded to a disturbance involving two men at a Fortuna Drive hotel Dec. 26. One man reported he heard a fight in another room and went to check on the people inside. He stated a man opened the door and assaulted him, shoving him to the ground several times and injuring his shoulder. That man provided conflicting information. A woman in his room stated there was a confrontation between her and the man before the victim came to the room, but she stated it was verbal. The victim was transported to a hospital by EMS and advised to contact the prosecutor to file charges. The other man, who was highly intoxicated, was advised to stay in his room, but he continued yelling outside the room and was arrested for disorderly conduct and taken to the Summit County Jail.
A Braucher Street Northwest man was arrested for improperly discharging a firearm Dec. 26 after deputies responded to a report of gunshots at a South Arlington Road address and found him target shooting outside.
Someone entered a vehicle parked outside a Sawgrass Drive residence the night of Dec. 26 and stole a roadside kit, jumper cables, tow chain, battery-operated jumper box and five gift cards.
On Dec. 26, deputies went to a Corporate Woods Parkway motel to apprehend a man staying in one of the rooms who was wanted on a warrant. A man and woman in the room refused to unlock a security latch from the door, so deputies broke the latch to enter the room. They found the man and woman hiding and hypodermic needles on the floor. A Rock Creek Road man and a 20th Street Southwest woman were given court summonses for obstruction of official business and possession of drug abuse instruments. Deputies confiscated 22 needles from the room.
An employee of an Arlington Ridge Road pet store reported Dec. 26 two women pushed a shopping cart containing four bags of dog food totaling $250 out of the store without paying for it. The employee followed them as they loaded the merchandise into a vehicle and asked to see their sales receipt. One woman said, “Hold on,” and they got into the car and left. Deputies traced the vehicle license plate to an Akron man.
Deputies responded to a dispute involving a man and woman at a Bexley Circle residence Dec. 27. Both stated it was a verbal argument, and they were advised of domestic violence laws.
A Sara Drive woman reported a driver followed her home as she drove from a Corporate Woods Parkway store Dec. 27 and refused to pass her vehicle when she pulled over and stopped. She stated the vehicle turned around and headed in the other direction before she reached home, and she requested additional patrol near her residence. Deputies advised her to call if she sees the vehicle again.
Also Dec. 27, deputies shot and killed a rabid raccoon in the front yard of a Laburnum Drive residence.
Deputies investigated the misuse of a credit card Dec. 28 after a Slaughter Road man reported his card was used for fraudulent purchases at three stores. He added that he found a package containing vitamin supplements he didn’t order on his porch. His name was on the package, but the address was different. A mail carrier knew where he lived and dropped the package at his home. The contents of the package had been fraudulently charged to his credit account.
A Crows Nest Circle man reported Dec. 29 someone entered a vehicle parked outside the residence the previous night and stole an iPad, laptop computer and medication.
Deputies and EMS responded to a report of a drug overdose at a Mayfair Road residence Dec. 30. A man admitted he had used heroin and they confiscated a bag containing suspected heroin or fentanyl to be sent to a lab for testing. The man was transported to a hospital. When deputies learned he was on probation for a previous drug offense and did not qualify for immunity from prosecution, they went to the hospital to inform him he was under arrest for the probation violation. They were called back to the hospital after the man pulled out his IV, got out of bed and fled through the emergency room in an attempt to find an exit door. He was apprehended by a nurse and deputies took him into custody. The Graybill Road man was additionally charged with escape, and he was transported to the Summit County Jail.
Deputies responded to a disturbance at a Raber Terrace residence Dec. 31 at 11:45 p.m. A man and woman stated they had an argument. The woman told deputies the man punched the door and the glass broke, but she signed a statement declining prosecution. The Bayview Terrace man left the residence and deputies instructed him not to return.
A Long Road woman reported Dec. 31 she received threatening text messages from her ex-boyfriend’s new girlfriend. Deputies reviewed the messages and found no threats. She was advised to block the sender’s number to prevent unwanted messages.
A Mayfair Road woman reported she heard glass break Dec. 31 at 4 a.m. and found a window had been broken by unknown means.

LAKEMORE: Police questioned two 19-year-old men riding bicycles Dec. 15 at 2 a.m. and found they were both wanted on warrants out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. A Greenwood Drive man and another man, of an unknown address, were turned over to deputies.
Police responded to a domestic argument between a husband and wife at a Mohican Boulevard home Dec. 15. The husband stated that when he walked out the door, his wife threw a box at him, hitting him in the back of the head. Police found no injury on his head, and his wife denied doing so. The husband retrieved personal belongings and left the residence.
On Dec. 17, a Canton Road business owner reported a Sheridan Street man and Kenridge Road man attempted to cash fraudulent checks while a Carlysle Street man waited in the car for them. All three claimed they were victims, and police are investigating.
An employee of a Canton Road store reported Dec. 20 a man came into the store, filled a trash can with items and fled out a back door. He was described as black, 5 feet, 7 inches to 6 feet tall, weighing 150 to 220 pounds and wearing a black knit hat, black and blue starter jacket and gray sweatpants and missing a bottom tooth.
Police responded to screams coming from a Lakemore Plaza location Dec. 20 and stopped a vehicle with a man and woman who had reportedly attempted to steal items from a store there. Another man allegedly involved in the thefts had walked into a nearby store, and he also was stopped. He was found to have a warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office and was transferred to that agency. The other two were not charged.
Police were called to a reported assault at a Sixth Street home Dec. 21. After speaking to all involved, police arrested a man of the home and charged him with disorderly conduct.
On Dec. 22, a Melanie Drive woman reported from a hospital in Green that she was assaulted from behind as she stepped outside a Lake Road bar to smoke a cigarette at 12:15 a.m. She told police she does not remember anything that happened afterward. She was found with substantial bruising and swelling to both elbows, wrists, hands and knees, as well as wounds on the palms of her hands and a bruise on her left side.
Police questioned a Hilbish Avenue man parked at a Lakeside Drive park Dec. 26 at 1:50 a.m. and noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The man surrendered two glass pipes, a grinder, an empty bag and an empty glass jar, and he was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

NEW FRANKLIN: A Vanderhoof Road woman reported Dec. 23 someone took 26 oxycodone pills from her prescription bottle. She told police she does not know who may have taken them.
A Manchester Road woman called police Dec. 30 to report a Dorwil Drive man against whom she has a protection order contacted her via text message, and he has been tracking her through social media. Police spoke with the man and advised him there were several warrants out for his arrest on the protection order violation and for telephone harassment, and he came to the police station to turn himself in later that day.
Police responded to a domestic dispute at a Pearlman Road home Jan. 1 and spoke to the parents of a child over whom they were arguing. The two said they would discuss the matter further.
On Jan. 1, police were called to a New Franklin location after a woman reported she believed a man at the residence took medication to harm himself. EMS was called to evaluate the man, and his vital signs were deemed safe. He declined transport to a hospital, and his sister arrived to spend the night with him.
Police were called about a male begging for money on Center Road Jan. 1 and found him running down the street. The male told police he was temporarily staying at his grandmother’s home in New Franklin, and police told him they would have to transport him to her home. During a pat down, a bag of marijuana was found in his pocket, and he was charged with possession of drugs.
Police responded to a possible break-in call about a Hampsher Road home Jan. 2 and spoke to a Massillon man. They learned he was wanted on a warrant for failure to appear in court, and during his arrest they found a crystal-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. The man was charged with possession of drugs and transported to the Summit County Jail.
Police called for a domestic dispute at a Renninger Road home Jan. 3 spoke to a couple, both of whom stated the argument was verbal only. The woman decided to leave the home for the night.
After stopping a vehicle for a traffic violation Jan. 3, a Tampa Avenue man was found to have a felony warrant out of the Summit County Sheriff’s Office. Prior to transferring him to that agency, police found a plastic container with drugs under his seat, and he was charged with possession of drugs.

SPRINGFIELD: A Hillstock Avenue man and a South Columbine Avenue man wanted on warrants for breaking and entering, criminal damaging and theft at a Shanafelt Avenue storage facility in November turned themselves in to the Springfield Police Department Dec. 16. They were charged and transported to the Summit County Jail. A Tritt Drive man also allegedly involved in the incident was arrested after he was found walking on Cora Avenue Dec. 23.
On Dec. 18, a teacher at a Pickle Road school reported a 17-year-old male student from Barberton grabbed her breast and pushed her as he left the classroom. The male was charged with assault.
A Linwood Drive woman reported her boyfriend, of Whitter Avenue, was at her home arguing and refused to leave when asked to Dec. 18. The man reportedly bit her left eye and knocked her cellphone out of her hands when she attempted to call 911, and she ran to the bathroom with the phone to make the call. The man left before police arrived. When police called him, he said the woman, who is 15 weeks’ pregnant with his child, hit him in the mouth, chipping a tooth. He failed to show up at the police station to sign a statement, and police issued a warrant for his arrest on charges of domestic violence.
A manager of a Canton Road restaurant reported a male employee left in the middle of his shift Dec. 18 and several hours later the noticed $1,066 missing from the register. Police went to the male’s home, but his sister told them he was not there and she refused to let them enter.
On Dec. 21, a Rowe Street woman was charged with theft after opening a $52 video game package in the restroom of a South Arlington Road store, inadvertently stabbing herself in the leg. She then reportedly attempted to leave the store with the game hidden in her purse. EMS was called to transport the woman to a hospital for her injury.
The windshield of a van parked on Crestline Drive was smashed with a rock Dec. 22. The owner told police he believes a Fourth Street man is responsible, as they have had issues in the past.
A 76-year-old Mishler Avenue woman reported Dec. 23 a man keeps calling her, harassing and threatening her to give him $30,000.
A Rhodes Avenue man was charged with theft and criminal trespass after allegedly taking chicken from a South Arlington Road store Dec. 23 and leaving without making payment. He was found at a nearby store and arrested.
Two rail cars parked on Skelton Road were broken into and tools were stolen Dec. 23.
A West Dalton Street woman reported $58.26 was withdrawn from her bank account at a Wickliffe bank branch while she was in Elyria Dec. 24.
A Hilbish Avenue woman reported Dec. 26 a total of $412.13 in three transactions were made Dec. 25-26 on her PlayStation Network account without her permission. She told police she reported the incident to her bank and her credit card was canceled.
During a traffic stop, a bottle of pills was found in the purse of the Canton Road driver wanted on warrants for possession and conveyance of drugs out of the Portage County Sheriff’s Office. The pills were sent for testing, and charges are pending those results.
Police responded to a suspected overdose at a Sadler Street home Dec. 27 and found a 27-year-old man barely breathing and with empty packets and a scale nearby. EMS arrived to administer Narcan and transport the man to a hospital. The packets were sent for testing, and charges are pending.
Two 13-year-old males from Akron were charged with theft Dec. 27 after they each allegedly took food and earbuds with a total value of $15 each from a South Arlington Road store. One was released to a parent on scene and the other was transported home and released to his mother
Police were called to a domestic incident at a Russet Lane home Dec. 28. The mother of a woman trying to leave the trailer through a window gave police a bag she said contained drugs. Police found methamphetamine inside and charged the daughter with possession of drugs.
A 22-year-old Canton Road man was reported as missing Dec. 30. A family member told police the man has not been seen since Nov. 28, when he left a family dinner with an unknown girlfriend. He is not a known drug user, according to his family.
