MERRIMAN VALLEY — This winter, Towpath Tennis Center, 2108 Akron-Peninsula Road, introduced the MultiBall System, an interactive hitting wall that is designed to bridge the gap between video games and the tennis court. According to Towpath officials, MultiBall was created by Fun With Balls, a Munich-based company, and Towpath is only the sixth location operating the MultiBall System in the United States.
The Multiball System is a console with an 11-by-15-foot backboard wall and a projected game, said Towpath officials. Players aim for targets in each game and the sensor frame detects when a ball impacts the wall.
Instead of children using their thumbs, they have to get active by throwing, catching, swinging and hitting targets, said officials. Shown above are children using the MultiBall System.
Towpath officials said it is suitable for players of all ages and skill levels.
“The wall has exceeded the expectations of every parent who watched their child use it,” said Towpath Owner Dallas Aleman. “Players are learning a multitude of tennis skills such as ball tracking, the feeding motion, footwork and more.”
The MultiBall system can be reserved by Towpath members and nonmembers in 30-minute increments for $15. To make a reservation or for more details, call 330-928-8763 or visit www.towpathtennis.com.
