Trustees set dates for leaf pickup

BOSTON — The Boston Township Board of Trustees announced at the March 10 meeting the township will conduct a leaf pickup.
Trustee Amy Anderson said the township would conduct the leaf pickup beginning April 5 and continuing through the week. The pickup is occurring due to recent weather conditions causing leaves to fall, according to Anderson.
In other road department action, Road Superintendent Dave Krusinski said he would put down marks on Wetmore Road to monitor it and called Summit County officials to alert them of part of a bridge on Hines Hill Road being blocked by trees.
Krusinski also said he can demonstrate an infrared resurfacing machine next month, which he said rejuvenates asphalt already on the ground and leaves a smoother patch rather than bumps on the road.
In other news:
• Anderson reported Trustee Bill Clifton’s sister-in-law has died. Clifton was not at the meeting.
Anderson also said the Valley Fire District had 41 calls for service in February, including 11 calls in the township.
• Peninsula Police Chief Joe Varga said a production issue has delayed the arrival of the village’s new police car to around May.
• Fiscal Officer Pam Schneider announced the township received $4,866 from the Boston-Cuyahoga Falls Joint Economic Development District (JEDD), taking the monthly average to $4,750.
Schneider also reported Deputy Fiscal Officer Catherine Anson applied for a Summit County ReWorks grant of around $707, which would go toward the township’s leaf collections.
• Trustees agreed to give $60,000 to the Boston Township Hall Committee from the township’s General Fund.
Anderson said the trustees thought that siding work on the building would cost close to $60,000, but it came in under that amount. She said any money left over after the siding work will be used on whatever the committee wants done, which may include painting.
The next trustees’ meeting is set for March 24 at 6:30 p.m. at Boston Township Hall, 1775 Main St. in Peninsula.
