WEST AKRON: On March 6, police responded to a Copley Road site where two men reported someone fired shots at them while they sat in a vehicle.
Police investigated a report that two men with guns used a brick to smash the patio door of a Greenwood Avenue home, entered while the resident was there and stole a purse, iPad and video game.
An Emma Avenue woman reported March 6 she paid $9,750 to a contractor who was to begin remodeling her kitchen Feb. 13 but never started the work and she has been unable to contact him. She showed police a letter allegedly from a lawyer stating the contractor was dead, along a death certificate she said was fake.
On March 6, police investigated reports of trespassing and property damage at a construction site on White Pond Drive where someone scratched the word “die” in the asphalt.
Police investigated the burglary of a West Market Street business March 6, causing damage to the front door and stealing money from a cash register, along with an electronic tablet, checkbook and a bag containing blank business checks.
Also March 6, police investigated the theft of a firearm from a vehicle on Crestview Avenue.
A Rocky Brook Drive man reported March 10 his estranged wife kicked and damaged the bumper of his vehicle during a custody exchange at her residence.
A driver stopped on Madison Avenue for speeding and running two stop signs March 10 was arrested for driving under suspension and having an open container of liquor in a vehicle. The man was additionally charged with carrying a concealed weapon, improper handling of a firearm in a vehicle, having a weapon while under disability and felony and misdemeanor drug possession after a search of his vehicle revealed a loaded handgun stuffed between the front seats, marijuana and Oxycodone.
The manager called police to a Nome Avenue apartment March 14 stating a man had entered a vacant apartment and was living there. Police located the man and contacted the owner of the building, who stated he wished to pursue charges. The man was charged with trespassing and taken to the Summit County Jail.
Police March 14 responded to a woman who said her boyfriend assaulted her while they were in a vehicle near Alden and South Hawkins avenues March 11. She stated he punched and choked her and dragged her out of the car. When she attempted to get back in, he threw her to the ground. She stated she went to a hospital, where she was treated for her injuries. Police issued a warrant for his arrest on assault charges.
On March 15, a woman reported she argued with a man at his Mull Avenue home and he threw items at her, including a drinking glass that cut her upper lip. Police went to the man’s home, charged him with assault charges and took him to the Jail.
Police investigated the theft of a vehicle from Frederick Boulevard March 15 after a customer reported her car had been stolen. Police viewed video surveillance that showed a man enter the vehicle and drive away. He was stopped in Downtown Akron, charged with theft and taken to the Jail.
The manager of a Byers Avenue residential complex reported March 17 a man who had been banned from the property March 6 was there. The man was gone before police arrived and they signed a warrant for his arrest for trespassing.
A Waters Edge Drive resident reported March 18 a woman who is prohibited from being there by a court order asked to use the bathroom and refused to leave. When police arrived, she crawled out a window and they signed a warrant for violation of a protection order.
A man who has been arrested for trespassing at a McTaggart Drive complex on multiple occasions was again charged March 18 and taken to the Jail.
Officers were called to a West Exchange Street residence March 19 after a woman reported the father of her child was kicking her door so she let him in to prevent damage and he took her father’s car keys. The man, whom had been advised March 8 to stay away from the residence, was charged with trespassing and taken to the Jail.

BATH: A Smith Road woman reported March 10 her daughter took her car keys and her vehicle without permission. Police returned to the residence several hours later after the vehicle was returned and arrested the daughter on a warrant from the Medina County Sheriff’s Office deputies. The mother declined charges for unauthorized use of a vehicle.
A Sourek Road man reported March 11 he hired a man to work at his residence Feb. 7. He stated he gave the man a company cellphone and keys to a company truck but the man failed to show up for work, has not returned the items and he has not been able to contact him since Feb. 14.
Following a traffic stop on North Cleveland-Massillon Road March 12, police arrested a woman for driving under suspension, released the passenger to Medina County deputies on a warrant, had the vehicle towed and confiscated the license plate.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle on Medina Road March 13 after recognizing the driver as someone who was wanted on a warrant out of the Barberton Police Department. The driver attempted to evade officers, but they located him sitting in his vehicle outside a North Cleveland-Massillon Road store, arrested him and released to Barberton police.
On March 14, police investigated the theft of $1,453 in fragrance products from a Medina Road store and searched the area for a woman who wore pink pants and a black jacket and fled in a dark blue Chrysler Voyager.

COPLEY: Police responded to a crash on Jacoby Road March 11. The driver exhibited signs of intoxication, failed a field sobriety test and was arrested for DUI and refusal of a BAC test and transported to her residence.
Also on March 11, police stopped a driver for a traffic violation and arrested him for driving under multiple license suspensions. He was charged with possession of drugs and paraphernalia after two bags of methamphetamine were found and taken to Summit County Jail.
A guest called police to a Montrose West Avenue hotel March 11 stating headphones and jewelry were stolen from his room.
An erratic driver stopped at the state Route 21 split March 15 appeared to be intoxicated, failed field sobriety and BAC tests and was charged with DUI and having a BAC that was more than twice the legal limit for alcohol.
A contractor reported $1,200 tools were stolen from the kitchen of a Shale Drive home March 17.
Police responded to reports of an erratic driver on Copley Road March 17, saw the driver swerve across lane lines several times and stopped him. He failed a field sobriety test, refused a BAC test and was charged with DUI and traffic violations.
A Litchfield Drive man called police March 19 stating an unknown man came to his residence and said someone driving a red pickup truck bearing a license plate registered to him struck and damaged his vehicle in Cleveland. Following an investigation, police advised the victim that it appears that his license plate was stolen and is being used by the driver of the pickup truck.

FAIRLAWN: Employees reported March 9 a shoplifter took items worth $598 and left a West Market Street store. Police located the man pushing a shopping cart in front of a nearby restaurant and confiscated a cigarette box he had thrown when he saw police. The Clay Street man was charged with theft and possession of two drug pipes found in the box and banned from the store.
On March 10, police responded to a report that a man and woman switched price tags on items and left without paying $251 for the merchandise. Police charged both Inman Street residents with theft and possession of drug abuse instruments found in their possession, and advised them they are banned from the store. When both of them began experiencing the effects of drug overdoses they were given two doses of Narcan and EMS transported to a hospital. Contraband, pocketknives and several credit cards bearing the names of other people were confiscated from the man and woman’s bags.
A Hudson man was charged with theft March 10 after he concealed eight items totaling $437 under his coat and left a mall store without paying for them.
Employees of a Medina Road store reported March 12 a man concealed eight items totaling $10 and left without paying for them. The Bishop Street man was charged with theft and banned from the store.
Police reviewed video surveillance from a West Market Street store March 16 after an employee reported a woman filled a large purse with medical items and attempted to leave without paying for them. The woman dumped the $391 items when confronted and fled on foot. Police searched the area but were unable to locate her.

NORTON: Police investigated a March 7 report filed by a South Hametown Road business involving a contractor in Lakewood who bought building supplies with a check for $2,082, which was declined for insufficient funds, and the contractor did not respond to a 10-day notice for payment. The Lakewood Police Department advised officers that the address provided by the contractor is an apartment complex and they were unable to locate the contractor. Police left a voicemail message for the contractor to call police or charges would be filed.
A driver stopped for lane violations March 10 was arrested on a warrant, charged with possession of cocaine, marijuana and drug paraphernalia found in his vehicle and taken to the Summit County Jail.
An employee of a Greenwich Road store reported March 11 a woman stole items and left. He attempted to detain her in the parking lot, and a man and woman intervened on her behalf, believing she was being attacked. The woman fled in a vehicle but her license plate was recorded. Store employees identified the woman and police attempted to contact her and signed a warrant for her arrest.
Police investigated a report that a wallet was stolen from a Krancz Drive residence March 11.
A woman requested assistance March 13 regarding harassing email messages being sent via a public school account.
A Driftwood Road man reported March 14 his mailbox was damaged the previous night.
Also March 14, a motorist reported his vehicle was damaged when he ran over a pothole in the northbound lanes of the 5500 block of South Cleveland-Massillon Road.

PENINSULA/BOSTON: A Canton man was stopped March 15 for driving erratically on Interstate 271. He reportedly told the officer he was following the car ahead of him, which was being driven by his uncle, when he drove onto the right shoulder of the highway. The officer smelled marijuana and the driver reportedly admitted to smoking earlier and turned over a small bag of marijuana. Police also found and open container and suspected cocaine inside the car, which the driver denied were his. The man was cited for driving outside marked lanes, charged with possession of marijuana and open container and advised further charges were pending testing on the confiscated items.
A Richfield man stopped March 18 for a loud exhaust was found to have a suspended license and a warrant out of the Barberton Police Department. Police found an open container of whiskey, marijuana and an unknown crystal-like substance in the car and cited the driver for driving under suspension and the loud exhaust and charged him with possession of marijuana and marijuana possession. Additional charges related to possession of a dealer plate were pending.
Also March 18, a newspaper delivery person reported seeing suspicious activity involving a group of juveniles in a car. The caller told police the juveniles were driving on Woodland Road and Morris Drive, and police later found more than 20 mailboxes on Morris and Stine Road damaged or tampered with. Police were not able to locate the car.
A Cleveland man was cited for excessive window tint and charged with improper handling of a firearm, open containers and possession of marijuana and given a warning for a burned out taillight following a traffic stop March 19. A passenger was also warned for not wearing a seatbelt and improper handling of a firearm found in the vehicle.

RICHFIELD: Police stopped a driver for a traffic violation March 6. The driver admitted a firearm was under the seat and police recovered it and searched the vehicle. They recovered drug paraphernalia, marijuana and another firearm in the glove box. The driver was given a warning regarding speeding, the contraband was confiscated and police determined the firearms had not been stolen and they were returned to the driver and a passenger.
Following a traffic March 6, police charged a man with driving under suspension. He surrendered marijuana and was transported to a location to get a ride and his car was towed.
Police were called to a Brecksville Road facility March 6 after a resident reported jewelry was stolen from her room.
On March 7, a business owner reported an employee who was fired took a company vehicle without permission and used the company’s fuel card in Lima. Police advised him to file a police report in Pennsylvania, where the vehicle was last seen.
A Broadview Road man reported March 8 his passport had been stolen.
A Medina Line Road resident reported March 9 the driver of a pickup truck has been driving past his house and harassing him and his wife for the last six months, yelling and threatening to kill him. He stated he has a Ukrainian flag outside his home and he believes it is the reason for the harassment.
Police responded March 10 reports that a vacant house on Hart Road had been entered and there were homeless people living there. Police found it difficult to reach the front door due to brush but searched the outside and two garages and found no entry had been gained and no one appeared to be living there. They also found an abandoned vehicle with a license plate that had expired in 2017.
On March 10 a motorist reported a couch fell from a passing truck and damaged his vehicle. He provided the license number of the truck to police.
Police investigated a report that a driver struck two mailboxes on Mill Street March 10. Police searched the area and found debris from a GMC Terrain at the scene. Several hours later, a woman contacted police to say her son was driving her GMC Terrain and struck the mailboxes. Police advised her to come to the police station to retrieve the vehicle parts. Her son was cited for failure to control a vehicle through a juvenile diversion program.
The district manager of a Wheatley Road businesses reported March 11 he discovered discrepancies in the electronic recording of transactions.
Employees called police to a Brecksville Road travel center March 11 for a man and woman shoplifting items. Police located the two, searched them, found stolen items in the woman’s purse and returned them to the manager, who declined charges but asked they be banned from the property. Police transported them to a location to get a ride.
